DVD-Audi disc issues:
A friend actually burned a trial disc for me, it worked in his '07 not in my '06. Not sure if the year of the ML unit plays a role or not. I also don't know which software he used to burn the disc. But if he doesn't post soon, I'll check.

i think i posted this earlier but i have a santana supernatural dvd-a that won't play in my ml, i haven't yet figured out why, maybe the dvd-a is defective. but it just spins and never plays...... [wasted $15]
Hi,
I have an 06' and burned several DVD-A discs. Some play most don't, but interesting enough, they all play on my home DVD player with no issues.
Haven't figured it out why most don't play in the IS ML unit.
From what I recall, I used decrypter and created an ISO image, then I burned that ISO image onto the DVD-R or DVD-R DL depending on size.

I also have the Santana Supernatural DVD-A, and it will not play in my Lexus IS350 ML system either. Other DVD-A disks play just fine though. So it isn't a defective disk, just a "defective" DVD-A player when it comes to that particular recording.
I believe the problem on that particular DVD-A
is due to the manufacture's DRM encoding that
is supposed to provide copywrite protection.
When the IS reads the DRM data, it gets confused
on the disk type. It's not the fact that the IS has
a DVD-A format incompatability. Blame the disk manufacturer
for not completly adhering to the DVD-A specification
and trying to inject their own scrambling. The
manufacture is lucky that most players can deal with
an off spec disk.

FYI, there is no known way to make a 100% copy of a DVD-Audio disc.
DVD-A uses CPPM protection, which can be defeated, so you can rip the songs to HD, but you cannot burn another DVD-Audio disc from those files as there is a watermark protection in the file wavs so that cannot be defeated at this time.
You can decode and reencode, etc, but then you lose quality and thus miss out on the reason for buying DVD-A in the first place... Luckily DVD-Audio are cheap, so if a disc breaks or you lose it, it's usually less than $20 to buy a new one... Just stinks you can't back them up

If I were you guys (not lucky enough to have ML on IS250AWD) I would put up a big stink about this. DVD-A players are supposed to play all DVD-A discs. That's almost like putting in a CD in a CD player and not working. This is a hardware/software issue, not the disc.
I just had my IS in for the infamous CEL/VSC light combo and brought this issue up to the service writer. I also purchased the Santana Supernatural DVD-A. At first I thought it was the disc, so I brought it inside the house and tried it on my home DVD player and it worked. When I insert the disc in the car, on the screen it shows that there is a disc in the slot, but it doesn't tell you what kind (I have 2 other discs in there, one is a movie, which displays as "DVD-V" and a burned CD, which displays as "CD"). Well, when I got my car back, they told me that I was using an incompatible disc. I thought to myself, well how many different kinds of DVD-A's are out there? I have yet to try another DVD-A yet, so I can't really tell what the real issue is.
Regarding the dvd incompatibility? I'd say that's worth a complaint to corporate, if enough of us complain, when there IS a fix, perhaps we'll get the free upgrade!
If you've already posted your results with the VSC light, can you please post the link? I'm curios how that turned out, as I've not heard of my 350's having the problem.
