Default Overlays

I've seen the blue fog light overlays, blue head light overlays, smoked tail lights, and red-outs. What I'm really wondering how if at all do these overlays affect the light output?
Like do smoked tail light overlays decrease the amount of light coming from the tail lights or do blue overlays really make the light look more blue-ish?
Can someone who has any of these chime in on this

i think the blue overlays are ultimate ricerz. if you wanna get overlays.. get yellow... or clear so you can prevent rock chips.

im sure it affects the light output. i know that on the smoked headlight overlays, your headlights look purple when on.

Everyone seems to have a different idea of what ricing. In no way do I think that putting blue overlays on the tiny fog lights is ricing. I can understand maybe on the headlights, that may be a little too much. But I don't get how blue overlays is ricing but yellow isn't.

If you put NOS stickers over your blue overlays that might be rice.

I say if your overlays are neatly done then they aren't rice.

What is rice imho is people who rock yellow headlights and foglights. TOO JDM for me. Hehe

i agree with the lady above me =)

overlays when neatly done should not be considered rice but rather considered "clean" hehe. im thinking of getting blue overlays for my fog because i dont think yellow matches my car too much but i dunno we'll see... u should do what u like to your car and not care what anyone else thinks because it IS YOUR car and if you like it then great!

What happened to blue, I guess it's a weak color?

My optic blue (for my headlights) and yellow (for my fogs) overlays just came in today. I will be putting them on today and taking pics. I like them and I could care less what others think. Since everyone complains about the "yellowness" of the OEM xenons, the optic blue film should be just the right amount of blue tint to give the look they want.

Some pics of an A4 with Optic blue overlays.
