here is another update... the rattle is coming back. The ride was nice and quiet for the first 2 weeks or so, but now, it's back. It's not as bad as before, but I think it's just a matter of time... in another 2 or 3 weeks it will be back to square 1. Oh well... My expectations were a little too high for a lexus i think.

IS250 M owners... please co-sign this thread if you are willing to participate in contacting corporate regarding this issue!!!

If we get enough people, I can write a letter with everyones help and hopefully something can happen.
I am willing to do it. but i think we all should call and complain about it in order to generate enough phone call complains first?

I'll sign, I don't have the problem, but I'll sign because it's not right.

Is it possible to forward this entire thread to Lexus dealers and corporate offices?

Make sure you call the 800 lexus number in the other thread, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=272979

Writing one letter and signign a bunch of names isn't going to make a difference. They are going to act like its one person. We are trying to get everyone to call so lexus can better track the problem. If we all call it WILL make a difference and maybe even get a TSB.

I'm not surprised at all. I think I posted something predicting this a few pages back.

Why don't you guys do the right thing and sell/return those crappy cars and buy a real car... eg. BMW I know you'll end up taking a loss but IMO it's completely worth the $$$. Just doing that and letting Lexus know about it in writing will show them just how pissed you are about it.

I'm not xwhite250, but I had my clutch replaced under warranty at 1400 miles for the "jar of marbles" noise.

It was PERFECT at first: totally smooth and quiet. But I have 2300 miles now, and the noise is definitely back. I'd say it started just a little within like two weeks or so after replacement, and was definitely back after about 400 miles (about a month later). However, it is probably only about 75% as rattly as it was before, and it takes more driving time before it really gets noisy.

It took me two months to get the approval from Lexus, and they told me straight out that they considered the noise to be normal, and was only doing the replacement as a "goodwill repair," so I figure that means I am on my own now.

As soon as I am financially in a position to do so, I will probably sell or trade the car.

Go ahead, rub it in.

The thing is, I was prepared to live with all the little quirks of the car, but I cannot STAND the rattle. It sounds like one of those Fisher Price push toys.

If I had heard the rattle on the test drive, I would never have bought the car.

Yes, to me it just cheapened the whole feel. Go drive an atuo now that you have had the MT for a while. I was pleasently surprised.

Lexus really should step up to the plate and fix the MT issues though. You shouldn't have to trade your 30k car trying to get rid of clutch noises.

Finally got rid of my is250M while the value was still OK... got it for 31K out the door and after 19 months, got 27k for it. Well, it was nice while it lasted but i don't regret selling it... will be looking into 3 series soon... until then, back to my old work truck which makes a whoooole lots of noise, but that is expected ... I think i will complain if that doesn't make noise... so long CL.

That's some pretty amazing resale...was it a private party sale, or at Carmax or something?

I ask because I'm getting pretty sick of the noise....it sounded like a Cuisinart full of ball bearings on Sunday.

Hi Guys! I bought a 2006 MT when it first came out. Had to get my transmission replaced and constantly complained about the grinding noise. Same story as the ones posted above but I had some good customer service at Longo Lexus, but the techs were no help. Everytime I brought it in, they just told me "It's within normal function of the vehicle". Are you telling me this $30K is supposed to make grinding noises? If you told me that when I bought the car, you could have just dropped me off at the Acura dealership! Anyway, I complained for roughly 2 years and luckily the customer service rep at the dealership just told me to call corporate (after the corp tech came out to inspect the vehicle) and tell them that I was not satisfied and that I wanted to request a buyback. After some resistance to push it further, the corporate rep finally submitted my paperwork and Lexus bought back my car for pretty much the full amount. I now have bought an automatic IS with the options that I wanted in the first place. LEXUS IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE so don't let them play dumb about it.

Dang! wish I could have got them to buy mine back... I ended up getting 24k for mine and paying 31500 for the new 07AT. ( original MT was 30k OTD )
