Maybe. It might be that the flywheel is fine, but they're going to replace it on principle because they've already got the hard work done. Also, if you've killed the clutch in 24k the flywheel might very well be toast. Sounds like it's seen a lot of hard use. I've never had an OEM clutch last less than 100k miles.

If corp said no, then it's time to pay up and fix it. I'd get the F-Sport clutch and take it to an independent. If the flywheel is jacked, you're looking at a pretty steep bill.

sucks to hear that...i think you should call corp again and explain the situation and see what they can do.....

getting the new F-Sport clutch done with a reliable mechanic is not that bad....the most expensive thing is the flywheel.......

good luck and keep us posted.

Sigh. I have the same issues with my 06 IS250MT. Car has 43k miles. A new tranny was put in ~32k miles by the dealer. I'm going to live with this noise and hope for the best for now. Sounds like it's normal on these poorly-designed tranny/flywheel/clutch assemblies.

To all IS250MT owners, how many miles have you guys had the car and any other problems besides the noise?

Thanks,
Denny

Sup all,

About my flywheel+clutch issue, Longo Lexus has called the Lexus Corp. for me and have come inspected my car.

Now, they are saying The Lexus Corp. will cover for all of the Parts (Flywheel+Clutch=about $ 2,000) but I will have to pay for the Labor with is around $ 1,000. Should I take this offer ?!

But I'm thinking, this is BS.. and why are they paying for all of the parts if they were saying the cause of my issue was me driving too aggressively.. this is weird, I smell something fishy !

ANYONE here have any advices ?? thx

I have dealt with corporate too (when I had my clutch assembly replaced), and they in general seem to be much less restricted in what they can offer, more knowledgeable, and in general more interested in pleasing the customer.

I guess from here, you need to decide how far you want to try to push Lexus corporate, especially considering you definitely have a better offer on the table now than what you had before.

1,000 seems pretty reasonable for a new clutch/flywheel. see if they can just give you the parts so that you can install them somewhere else. i know a place in so.cal and the mechanic used to be the master mechanic at Longo Lexus.

I didn't read the entire thread... so I hope this hasn't been covered, but I was thinking .... Do people with the F-Sport clutch/short shift kit have this problem? I heard reviews saying it was one one the smoothest combos on any MT (F-sport, not stock!)
