Default Self-inflicted paint chips?

Has anyone else noticed small chips in their paint at the back of the rear doors or just behind the doors? My '07 IS250 is only 2 1/2 months old, and I already have chips on both sides (same place on each side). At first, I thought that these were from jerks opening their doors against me in the parking lots. But the chips aren't at the widest point of the car.

My hypothesis is that my front tires are throwing rocks along the sides of the car, and striking the sides where it flares out (just in front of the rear tires). Is it just me?

Haven't gotten any on the back of the rear doors but did get one on the front edge of the driver rear door.

I got two rock chips at thefront of my car byt the touch-up paint fixed it as good as new. BTW my car is also a SGM and in my opinion a darker car will show the cip areas a bit more. Just get some of the touch-up paint and keep it at home.

If only...

Haven't bought touch up paint because on previous cars, the touched up chips were far more noticeable than the ones I just left alone.

There is supposed to be clear film material back there to prevent this from happening. Did Lexus leave it off this model? If so, you can get some clear bra material and put it over the affected area to prevent it from happening in the future.

There is some material there but definitely not enough.

Yes, I have the color-matched protective strip at the lower-front end of the rear fender. However, these chips are all occuring about 12"-18" above that (following the contour around the fender). One of the chips is actually a curved gouge that goes all the way to metal. I think I 'threw' some road debris from my front tire.
The touch-up paint: Is that available at the dealer, or do I purchase it elsewhere?

The protective strip people have mentioned got scraped and is starting to peel slightly on my car. Any idea if these things can be replaced and how?

Get the paint code from Lexus and buy it from the Toyota Dealership.

I saved 7 bucks.
