I have a 2002 430. The paint is in great shape, except for some chipped paint next to the door handle on the driver side at the door edge. 5-6 chips, all in a small area, but quite noticeable. Can chipped paint be touched up and blend in with the paint job, or will it require a major job, such as painting the entire door panel to make the spots unnoticeable? Any idea what a job like this would cost at a good body shop?

Try the paint touch up route 1st, nothing to lose.

Paint touch up nowadays are getting better.

They now normally require base+color+clear. That’s the right way to do it. Some colors require a base coat others do not.

If you search for touch up paint, tons of info. Utube gives you more info.

Normally a Pen Type touch up is about $12 per pen. You can get into aerosol type spray cans with the right color matched, you have to know what you are doing when getting into this kind of territory.

Takes practice, that's the key.

Just did this myself. Works GREAT. I'll post pics. Even my hard to match Tiger Eye looked great.

 

Here is the door chip on the edge - please forgive my lousy photog skillz. I also covered a scratch on the trunk from holding my keys when I lifted the lid and it worked GREAT.

Sewell Lexus sells touch up paint for $12-24.

Use touch up let sit for 2 days between each coat. Wet sandpaper it with 2000 grid to blend. Then polish.
