They had my car for about 5 days trying to replicate the issue. I think my SA finally just decided to take my word for it and since then I haven't heard it

 

Werd, so what I'm gonna do is let my car sit for several hours at at a time and record it....in 720p. That way if they can't recreate it, I can say hey! Argue with this crystal clear footage!

 

well i took mine in last week for this issue, i had the video on my phone, and my dealer was really awesome. They fixed it no question and gave a fail hybrid as a loaner. Now if i could just get rid of this horrible whistling at low rpms from my intake i will be ok.

 

I started my car just before and I heard a rattle noise during start up. I read that it may be my cam gears. My car is still CPO something I should worry? Anyone experience this? Chime in please. THANKS!!

 

I've heard it too, it only last about a second. and then it goes away.

No idea what it is though.

 

Cam gear TSB. My car did that and it was CPO as well, repaired for free.

It also does the rattle noise on engine shut down too once a while too as it would sound odd similar to the start up.

 

i printed out the tsb sheet to my dealer and they said no they dont do that....owell happens once in a blue moon anyway

 

Scampbell, is there a way u can send me original video please! my car does the noise and i cant capture it on video because it does it occasionally and i need it for dealer. i would really appreciate it if u can send me original video to my email so i can use it. thanxs

I would see if you could get corporate to step in. This would be perforamnce/reliability related.

 

See if you could get a different service rep to look into it. If not then try to find another dealership in the area if available. Then talk with corporate to see if they can escalate this.

 

have same issue..taking it in tomorrow night to drop it off so they can cold start it in the am.

 

I had luck that the day the car was in the dealer the temp dropped to around 50 degrees...
so i guess they were able to diagnose the noise and fixed it =D

 

have the same issue, printed off the TSB, and will hand them that, so they know that i am aware of this issue and not taking my car back untill they fix it. Going in tonight to drop the car off, will let you guys know what happens..i read all 52 pages of this thread, and i want to say thanks to everyone that helped out on here. will post updates!!! hope they wont be DI*KS

 

I just got my CPO '08 350 back last week for this same issue. The noise first started out randomly maybe once or twice a month, then once a week, then every morning when i'd start the car especially if it was cold. My SA knew exactly what I was talking about but said they had to replicate it to fix it. Kept it one night and the next am sure enough it rattled so they fixed it (under standard warranty cuz i'm not out of that yet) and I haven't heard the horrid noise since.

jsut got a call from lexus, they herd the noise on the first try ...ordered parts today should be done by the end of the week...will update on how the car is and everything
