Default Source for deeper info on IS350

Coming from a BMW background where the enthusiasts are REALLY enthusiastic and refer to models by factory code like E36, and know the names of individual designers and engineers, I'm feeling a little empty now that I've gone over to the "dark side" of driving what I (I admit it) used to call a disLexus...

Where can I get some more in depth info on the design and development of the IS350. Like who was the design lead? Are there design drawings floating around to show early concepts? Was the IS350 a result of any concept work at Toyota or Lexus, etc. etc. etc.

From a technical standpoint, how do all the VDIM functions work? What's the mechanism for the manual shift mode? Is it a shift range or manual selection of gears (I still can't tell for sure if it's a manual selection with an override to protect the engine or a "range" select)

Etc.

Does something like this exist anywhere?

welcome to CL

In terms of techie info, you can sign up for the service tech data, I don't have the URL handy, but I'm sure somebody will respond with the info. I know many members such as lobuxracer and al503 dig up all sorts of good info on our cars from it. It does have some fairly good info on VDIM, again maybe the members with access can help out here

Interesting. Yes, I'd like to see that.

I notice you have a banner for the EOS thing and you are in the NorCal area. Are there regional clubs like the BMWCCA had that do things like drives/rallys, track days, race day concours at places like Sears Point or Laguna, etc.?

The site is http://techinfo.lexus.com

Be aware that there is a subscription cost, although many here subscribe for a single day and download a large quantity of PDFs for later perusal.

There are, but Lexus clubs/ groups in general are less focused on motorsports and more on the social aspect of meets (my observation). We're having a race day concours at Lexfest (www.lexfest.net) during Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta at the end of September. We do mountain drive events like www.lexusdragon.com and I know the Cali guys do some canyon drives. BUT we don't typically setup motorsports events that rent out tracks and do DE's like the BMW and Porsche clubs do.

Hey Eric,

Welcome to the BRIGHT SIDE(we jokingly call the otherside the "darkside" )!

Some info on the IS350....you may want to explore our very comprehensive FAQ if you haven't done so already. You can find background on Chief Engineer Fukasato and his history with Toyota here:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=175604

Read my review below and it will touch bases with some of your questions:

https://www.clublexus.com/index.php/...iew/7475/1/10/

And most importantly...the FAQ which is stickied at the top of our 2iS forum:

Default Thanks!

Cool, thanks!

I looked around here and at the my.is forum and missed those PR's.

I feel Like Ralf Schumacher... I went from BMW to Toyota!
