Hello All, just took delivery yesterday of a 2006 IS 350, breakwater blue metallic, black interior, sport package with nav and spoiler.
I was resigned to wait until the 07 models appeared as no dealer here in the tri-state area had the color scheme that I wanted. Fortunately, the person who ordered this car didn't want to wait any longer and took another car. So, when the car finally came in . . . it was fate. I was originally going to wait for the luxury package as I liked the wood trim, but it was not enough for me to wait months for it, plus I like the sport package with the wheels and tighter suspension. After all, this is not a sedan!
FYI for any add-ons, I am going to have the teflon coat put on the paint, but I passed on the clear bra as a friend of mine at another auto dealer told me it wasn't worth it. Just saving for my snow tires now.

I think you'll find out the hard way that a clear bra is definitely worth having on the IS. After hearing all the paint horror stories I'm glad I got it.

Newer cars now come with the more fragile paint due to environmental concerns. It may not be "worth it" for older cars, but new cars with the metallic paint "need it." Originally Posted by WManhattan

Get the clear bra and save yourself the frustration of getting chips off the body paint.
P.S. By the way, nice color combo...

The 'teflon coating' is usually a coat of wax or sealant. See if you can get the clear bra instead of the coating.

The only way I see a clear bra not being "worth it" is if you don't drive your car. I clear bra every car I own. Please do this, you will not regret it.
First, thanks for the warm welcome.
Second, I'll have another talk with my friend at the dealer about the clear bra. Based on your experiences, I'll probably do it. I want to keep it as nice looking as possible.

Not many things I can guarantee but this is one of them. You'll regret it if you don't.Originally Posted by WManhattan
