Default how do you shut her up

I decide I don't want the guidance for whatever reason so I say suspend guidance or cancel voice recognition and she says o.k. But nothing changes, she's still telling me where to go, haha. Anybody have the same problem?

I don't have the manual in front of me but I turned her off a long time ago. There's two ways. You can either set the volume to zero, or there's a menu option to turn off automatic voice prompts. I chose the latter because if you need a voice prompt you can just hit the "Map" button once if you're already on the Map screen and she'll give you directions. If you turn the volume to zero, you lose that functionality.

But there is a way. It's either in "Menu" or "Info" or somewhere. Check the manual.

Cheers,
Kermee

Hit "menu" and the option for "suspend guidance" will pop up. Hit suspend guidance and viola, she's gone!

Its funny though because she does acknowledge my voice command when I say suspend guidance.

I don't really use the voice command much because I find it to be too cumbersome. 99% of the time, it's much, much faster for me to just push the damn button myself than to hit voice command and then tell it what I wanted done. And the other 1% of the time, voice command doesn't even recognize what I'm trying to say so it's pointless to me.

When you say "suspend guidance", does she respond with "guidance suspended"? I've done that in the past w/no problems. But I've only used the voice command for that before because I didn't know how to suspend it via the menu function. Now that I can do it on my own, voice command is rarely used...

yes she says guidance suspended or voice rec cancelled, whichever command I give it. I could understand if she didn't recognize my command but she does.
I don't use voice commands very often either, and never for the phone. for the phone its so much easier to press the tel. button on the steering wheel then touch the name on the screen that you want to call.
Also there is no a/c voice commands on the canadian version and that is one I really wanted.

Cool

Are you saying you can't use the voice recognition to turn the temperature up or down in Canada models? That is the only thing I've been using it for so far. I just say warmer or cooler and the temperature adjusts.

Thats what I'm saying. What a **** off, eh? I have no idea why we don't have that ability. The weather in Canada has highs and lows just like the states and this is one command I would use, like you. We have far less option packages as well. If you want nav. you have to take all the sport or luxury options with it. You can't pick and choose.

hmm how interesting. it should've worked if she said "guidance suspended". maybe it's time u take ur car to the dealer and ask what's going on...

that sux that you canadians don't have the voice commands for the a/c. while i don't say cooler or warmer, i do use the function to set the temp at a certain degrees like i just say "73 degrees" and the temp is set at that temp.

Before you press the voice command button, wait for whats-her-name tell you to speak a command, then speak, you could just press the temp up or down button and be done with it. I hardly ever have a need to change temps anyway...it's 69F in my car year round.

I agree. I don't use voice rec. very often and I'm pretty sure most people who've had it for more than a few weeks do the same. Although it is useful for a few things, like finding poi's while driving. But basically imo, It's just a novelty. With a touch screen, every command is very easy to access. I'd like to know if the infiniti and other owners who don't have touch screen feel the same way. They might find voice more convenient.
