Default Front License Plates

Got my IS350 last week and have started noticing that most IS's on the road dont have a front license plate.

IMO looks much better without the license plate but there's nothing I can do about it since the holes have already been drilled into the bumper

anyone else have front license plates?

Funny this thread just came up as I finally got a new front plate for my car yesterday and when I put it on and looked at it. I immediately took it back off. Very ugly up there. I would rather look at the front plate holder than to see an ugly full plate up front that just doesn't fit right as it seems to hang down slightly more than it should. I'd prefer to have no front plate holder or holes in the bumper, but the dealer did it before I had a chance to say anything. I'm considering getting painted bumper plugs for the front, but they seem to be a bit over priced.

I got my front place installed. someone on this thread stated that he got pulled over
for not having the front plate. Anyways, I really don't mind. Not that I like, but I don't mind it either

not only do i have tapped holes from the license plate frame, but i have 2 screw indentations from the screws that hold the license plate to the frame. i guess since the temporary paper/plastic dealer advertisement plate is so thin, the screws ended up hitting and going partially into the bumper. so now i got 2 holes and 2 semi-holes... great! guess this means front plates forever...

I am thinking about getting a smaller Lexus embossed plate (about half the size of a regular tag). At least it gives it a better appearance.

It's against the law in CA to not have a front license plate. I know someone who got a ticket while his car was parked on a lot. Yes it's a fix it ticket, but is it worth the hassle to get a citation then put holes on the car anyway to get it signed off? I guess double sided adhesive is an option. Then what, remove it after it's been signed off? It's going to be a cycle over and over which IMO is not worth it. Again, just an opinion.

In case you want to plug up the holes anyway, go to this link www.bumperplugs.com

I did a quick fis to this problem, ..and a lot cheaper than the bumperplugs.

I will have then once I get my plates... No point since holes are already drilled. If there were no holes then its a different story. I dont like Bumper Plugs... personal taste

FYI, most major airports these days take pictures of the incoming cars. At LAX, there are a couple cops on motobikes standing by to tag anyone who does not have a front license plate.

Of course, as long as the cop on duty is female I'm a-okay given my good looks...mojo...too powerful....

Yup, good cheap fix. In addition, you can buy a set of plastic screw covers for license plates from your local auto parts store. I saw them at Kragen Auto Parts, 4 covers for less than 5 bucks. You can use the screws for the license plate then put the plastic covers on them.

When my saleslady called me and told me my car was due in tomorrow, I told her to make sure they don't install the license plate, they made me sign a waiver and told me to come back when its ready to be installed....here is the IS without the holes drilled....shweett.

For one, they photo the rear plate, as that is the only requirement common to all vehicles in this country.

Plus, I seriously doubt they ticket that way. How do they know you're not from out of state, and only require a single rear plate? Cops aren't generally in a position to check both the front and rear plate on apssing vehicles. Virtually all no-plate tickets are the result of being stopped for some other infraction.
