Where is the extra 14th speaker??
I am waiting on my special order IS350, sports package only, and was just wondering. I tried to crank the stock sound sysytem on my test drive{s} to mask the constant droning comming from my sales people, but It didn't work.
I'm sure the 9 extra speakers from my current set up will sound pretty sweet though.
Matt =)
As far as the difference in the 2 systems, I haven't really listened to the stock system, only during a test drive, but I'll say that the ML system doesn't sound much different. I'm not that impressed. I didn't have a choice because I ordered nav. which comes with the ML audio.
After my earlier post to-day I checked the difference between burned cd's (which I have been listening to) and bought cd's and I will say there is a noticeable difference.

Also, although there is a package that includes both ML and Nav, the two are also available as separate options.

There's only 2 speakers in each of the rear doors, 14 total.

I don't know where you're getting your info because I have all options and packages right in front of me ( cdn. version) and you have to take the ml if you want navigation.
You are looking at the US packages. In Canada, the packages are more restrictive due to smaller market.

The Nav and the ML have to come together as a package for the IS350. Besides, Park Assist or PCS are not offered at all to the Canadian IS models. (It's available for the GS though)
For IS250AWD, you can only get the Nav alone but no ML in Canada
For IS250RWD, you can only get the non-Nav version and no ML in Canada.
Hope it will clear some confusion.

Audiophile sound excellence, but... given that:
- you must find a good recording (a dvd audio cheap recording could sound worse than an audiophile cd recording)
- you have an excellent audio equipment to hear the differences (the whole chain from the player to the speakers)
- you listen at music that benefits those improvements
- you can hear the differences, as your ear is the best judge.
- and... your car is stopped quietly and not running offroad
Multi-channel music is ok if you r listen at pure, discrete multi-channel recordings (such as DVD Audio or SACD): I personally don't like dts neo or pro logic II surround elaborations...
