Default Cracked windshield = $$$$$

Last Saturday, I had a huge rock hit my windshield on I-5 in Sacramento. There's about a 3 foot crack across the middle of the windshield. Called around to get some estimates. Lowest estimate was $1037.76! Ouch! There's goes my Intake/Exhaust money If anyone knows of a good glass shop in Sacramento, please let me know.

WOW! THAT SUCKS

It was only like $300 for my 3000GTs.

I guess it will take some time for them to start making aftermarket ones for the new IS?

My suggestion would be go through insurance. This shouldnt affect your rates

Full glass coverage, no deductible, no increase in rates...thru your insurance for only a few dollars a year. Who doesn't have that?

In some states, must be offered by law.

Not all companies have seperate "glass coverage". they either don't offer it, or it's covered under you comprehensive.

over 1000 for a windshield??

My friend's older IS was like 300 or something.

Good thing mine didn't crack but it did got a chip on my first week.

Toyota and Lexus need to learn how to make there windshild stronger... I've seen too many of them crack.

If you have full coverage, your insurance will pay for it, with no out of pocket expense to you. My 05 Nissan Titan was in the same situation -fully covered by Allstate!

will this raise your insurance rate? plus, will every state insurance company pay for your wind shield if you have full coverage?

doesnt california have a law where if you have a cracked windshield, someone somewhere will replace it for free? they dont want people that cant afford it to be driving around with something that could potentially lead to more problems for other people on the streets.

my friend's IS he had to pay for it. My friend's EVO he had to pay for it.

It's funny how fragil they are. The Evo windshild that the dealer order for him was crack during shipping
