Smile Voice Recognition

Just brought a Blue Onyx IS 250 AWD, what a great car. I do have one thing that is annoying me. I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to turn off the voice that comes on after you press the voice button. It says “Please say a command after the Beep” or something like this. If I could just get it to beep that would be great. I have checked the manual, but that even says after the beep. But otherwise, I love this car.

RTFM or do a search. Use the "Turn off voice guidance" setting.

Rude responses notwithstanding, please do remember to use the "forum search" feature at the top of the page; many common questions have been asked and answered by other posters.

The setting you're looking for is on the second page of the navigation options panel (accessed from the Menu button next to the touchscreen) and is called "Voice Guidance". Just set it to "off" and the "after the beep..." prompt will go away. This does NOT remove the prompts when voice dialing using Bluetooth, however -- as far as I know, there is no way to turn those off.

Get over it. It's just an acronym, it could have been much worse n00b.

Hehe, I agree. Consider it "tough love".

By turning off voice guidance, does that mean that the car doesn't talk to you while giving you directions?

I think it only turns off the "say command" I turned mine off and that good lady still tells you where to go and where to turn

I second this question. Will the lady still talk to you and give you the driving directions (ie "next right") if you turn off voice guidance?

nevermind, it was answered

Yes the good lady will still tell you where to go. (I know with Acura's nav system you can choose a man or a woman's voice) I turned my recognition off last night and now just a beep after I press the talk button. What a joy . I was also able to get rid of the day mode, that was staying on all the time by lowering the setting of your dimmer switch for the console.

Happy Driving
