of Msrp and bought it 3 weeks ago.. i JUST BASICALLY OFFERED HIM

I half-jokingly said "invoice" when asked what price would I have to meet for you to drive off today...guy comes back and says "invoice + 1000"...sold!

That's actually not bad considering this car just came out.
acl15 - After the holiday season, car sales historically tank because consumers have used up most of their disposable income. Try to negotiate after the holiday season if you can wait. Also, wait until the end of the month.

How many miles were on your 350 when you got it? I have one with the same options coming in this weekend, except it was a demo with 300 miles on it. I was thinking asking around 1500 off.
so dealerships are more desperate to make a sale in say, january? would this be enough to get a real good deal?
No, but it's better than right now. Sales will slow after the holidays.
Personally, I would wait a few more months. There is too much hype around this car right now. Lexus plans to sell 40,000 IS 250 and 350's. Eventually, supply will outweigh demand. If you can wait, you will save money.
For a demo you should definitely ask for way more than $1500 off. You've seen how people drive demo cars. I would ask for at least $4-5k off.
Tony, where did you get your car in NY? I paid MSRP about the same time as you, guess I got ripped off.
I know how I drove the 350 on my two test drives and there's no way I would drive mine like that during the "break in period". I agree with shooting for 4-5K off and see what they say..
I found this at another forum. Here is his post. He got a pretty good deal. This means that pretty soon the new IS can be had for invoice (or under) if tried hard enough.
Here is the post.....
Hi, Im new here, was doing research on the IS 250 and came across this site.
I wanted to know what people were paying for the 2006 IS250 as well. I'm here to tell you my deal. I should be picking the car up tonight....anyways...
Danggg...... he got a lot knocked off. do you know which dealership he went to? And how was he able to get that price?
He bought it from Mission VIego Lexus.
You just have to negociate. Alot of people are gullible and think thats its a brand new car and you can't get a good deal on the new IS. Few weeks ago I said you can get $2k off and people ridiculed me and said no way you cant get that much off the new IS. Here is an example of a good deal. Of course prices are different in other regions.
