Just to clarify, the 2GR 3.5L block maybe shared, but the Direct Injection system on the IS350 is currently exclusive to the IS350 only.

The 2.5 V6 is also shared across other toyota model world wide. Hence IS also benefited from sharing of engine like G35 does.

The new GS platform is also used on toyota (for example, the toyota crown athelete/royale and i believe the new Mark as well).

Sharing of platform and engine is quiet common on toyota/lexus.
Agreed, but unlike it's Nissan competitor, Toyota/Lexus has actual variation between each model including displacement and chassis setup to differentiate them between the others, where as that one other company uses the same displacement engine from their A to Z line of cars.

Since we've gone on topic...lets refresh and go back to discussing the NEW IS' pricing.

So when does compare AWD A4 to a cheaper IS250 RWD makes sense.

Audi A4 FWD auto, $28,840

Therefore A4 FWD pricing would be at most $39,000.

Audi comes with better corrosion warranty, free maint for 4 years. Not to mention that at $39k, audi comes with 12 way power front seats plus 4 way power lumbar support with 60/40 split rear seats.

True. G35 does have less interior feature. But it does have way more power, better brakes, and just overal a much better performance car. So i guess we can discount 280HP vs 204.

Just because you prefer luxury interior, does not mean that there are no customer out there that choose performance over luxury interior.

I agree that we are off topic.

But direction injection on both V6 is not exclusive to lexus. Both 3.5 V6 and 2.5 V6 for rest of world outside US utilized direction injection on the toyota sibling as well.

Again not a lexus exclusive as well.

but picus, main thing that you are forgetting is that G35 loaded is about same feature set as 38k IS350... You could get loaded IS350 but in that case G35 would seem like Corolla in terms of features.

This is kind of funny, I dont see why are we even trying to prove anything... it is teriffic pricing for both IS250 and IS350...

Let's let it go, ok? Comparing the G35 to a Corolla is about as silly as me comparing it to an EL. Thing is, I was poking fun and you're serious. In the interest of the thread lets just agree to disagree about IS250 pricing. I do agree IS350 pricing is good.

Cheers.

Hence your argument of IS costs more to build because it is used solely for luxury brand is wrong.

Sharing of platform and engine is quiet common on toyota/lexus.
Please re-read what I wrote. I said Lexus/Toyota shares platforms/engines parts.

The way I see it, the price of the IS350 is fair. Not a bargain, but not outrageous either.

The main thing I would change would be to make HID standard and separate out AFS into an option (like on the 2006 GS).

Xenons are pretty much expected even in entry level lux cars these days, and its primary competitors--the 330i, G35 and TL, all offer xenons as standard equipment.

As it stands now, you're forced to get a $3500 package just to get xenons.

Okay. We all know the performance advantage the G35 has over the IS250 as I didnt need to restate it again. Just looks back and read 3 pages of the same thing. Most of us here are all performance enthusiast and know how much power each car has. Why state it again?? What I posted is what people may or may not know about total prices when compareably equipped.

Okay well since you insist, I priced out a Audi 2.0T FWD Auto just for you. $39,185 with the same options.

Once again, make your own conclusion on what you think is a better deal. Like I said in the last line of the original post. If you want performacne for your money, G35, if you want more luxury for the money IS250. I personally know what I would rather have, so no need to persuade me with yall opinions. Do what you gotta do.

Assuming these prices quoted below are correct, what is the justification for choosing the LT package ($4,215) instead of just getting the ST ($3,695)? A $520 difference for a little bit of wood over the center console? Am I missing something?

Furthermore, why would you consider the LL ($3,495) and not go ahead and just get the ST ($3,695)? For $200 more, you get the 18" tires AND the sport suspension. The 18" tire option alone is worth $720 (FT package).

Either the prices are wrong, or the package description are incorrect... I'm specifically thinking the sport packages have too much overlap with the luxury packages. Actually, it might be both. Feedback?

Later Edit: Why is Nav + ML separately cost $3490 ($2550+$940) LESS THAN the VN package ($3990) by $500?!? These cannot possibly be the final MSRP options pricing, right?
