Comparison Pics with Rear Bumper
Guys, I'm really confused here. When pics of the IS first surfaced, we saw these 2 pics below:
This is diesal version
This is the IS350 first released pic, noticed the difference in how much bigger (Taller) the rear bumper is on the diesal compared to the IS350
NOW THE LATEST PICS
Thanks to Lexus Fan who posted the following pics "In Person" Look at this pic, doesn't this look exactly like the diesal pic from early production? I'm confused, will the IS350 rear bumper be less high than the diesal & IS 250? I can't read the emblem on this In person pic below, is that a 350, 250 or diesal?

they really do look the same to me.
the only reason i can think that the diesel looks taller is because the bottom of the bumper is reflecting light, making the whole bumper look a bit thicker than real life pics.

I guess I'm seeing something different then. Look at the space between the rear lower reflector light & the tailpipe between these pics.
It was 1SICKLEX that first noticed this difference so I am not alone in this.
See here on this thread his post half way down.

IMO, according to the pics in post #1. The back from the 'in person' view seems like the sides are more narrow. I can hardly see the sides or the flares making the side of the tail lights looking like it is sticking out ... if that even makes sense. Also the diesel pic doesnt have dual exhauts which is probably the reason why the bumper may look different.
Also according to the 'in person pic' the bumper reflectors seems bigger than the 'first release pic' that was in post #1.
The narrow behind in the 'in person' pic is kinda bugging me. Hope its just a weird angle or my eyes are playing tricks on me.

They might have different bumpers for different vehicles, since the IS350 w/sport sits lower than the IS250 would. They have to be at a certain height to match federal regulations... I believe BMW had to redesign the bumpers on the first of the new 7 series since the bumper was too high or too low or something
The exhaust pipes on diesel engine cars most often have ends that curve down to the ground rather than straight out the rear of the bumper. The picture of the IS220d shows only a single cut in the bumper for the exhaust and does not show an exhaust pipe in that cutout. The bumper cover for the IS220d might be different because of the single downturned exhaust.
