Having trouble finding the source of 2 bad smells coming from my 2is
The first smell is a rotten egg smell under hard acceleration which ive done some research and others are saying its the catalytic converter or the boot vents, does this mean i have a bad cat or is this smell normal and i need to just replace my boot vents?
The other is a very strong burning rubber smell which instantly fills the cabin and ive noticed it only happens on long ascends up a steep hill at moderate acceleration
If anyone has had similar issues and found a fix any advice would be appreciated thanks!
Rotten egg smell under hard acceleration is very likely the boot vents. Could be the catalytic converter thing, as that is the usual culprit of bad smells on cars in general, however that is not specific to 2IS. Vast majority of cases on these forums were the vents. Easy way to test it, tape the vents and see if it solves the problem (don't keep them taped though, they are there to let cabin pressure out, so be gentle with the door shuts while you are doing it)

I fixed mine by replacing the sparkplugs ( I replaced the coil packs too, as the manifold was already removed, but it is not necessary), two of them had oil above it, it's normal as the crush washers can lose pressure. Problem was solved and then go to the motorway and drive reving at 5000RPM or a bit more, for long extent of time(to clean the cat), of course, don't abuse it too much...
