Has anyone got a engine code P0430 on a 07 Lexus IS 350 before? A couple days ago My car started to sound like it had a hole in the exhaust . L
ast night got even worst, started to stall, car would barely move when you put a load on it or try go up on a small incline
Ok thanks. Any way to unclog it? Also now getting a misfire code for cylinder 1,3,5
You can try Cataclean or another catalytic cleaner. You can get it at an auto parts store or Walmart. It may be too far gone if the car is stalling. For the misfires you can switch the coils to another cylinder (one by one) to see if it's the coil itself. Here's a quick video to help.

Just fixed mine, P0420 and P0430, on a 2011 IS350 AWD after head gasket repair.... P0420 implies to Bank1 and P0430 implies to Bank2. I disconnected exhaust manifold after the cats (both sides, after first O2 sensors) due to a head gasket fix. After I put the exhaust back together, I got both P0420 and P0430. Changed new exhaust seals (both sides) and due to worn out pipe flanges, I also used exhaust sealant on the flange areas. And now I don't have either code anymore. Issue comes when first O2 sensor (before cats; from the engine to tailpipe direction) gets reading and then second O2 sensor gets reading which does not fit within "limits" (threshold).... hence the cat efficiency is out of threshold.

Thx bro. I hear if you burn alot of oil, which these engines do and i do alot of spirited driving haha. That can clog the cat. What are the best ways to unclog the cat?

Still tryna figure out that P0430 code for my IS. So I checked the passenger side cat inlet temp and was around 380 then the outlet which was around 410. First time checking that so might not of been totally accurate way to check
Then check driver inlet cat temp and was around 550 f and outlet was around 630 f. Does that mean my cats are ok? Thought if outlet temp was higher than inlet, the cat is ok
Might have to do a better search for holes in my exhaust
If you're sure the cats aren't clogged, you could always use plug foulers (O2 extenders) on the downstream sensors to get rid of the code. *tip is for off-road use only...
Does anyone know what percent catalyst efficiency triggers the codes? I've read figures ranging from 60-80% for other cars, but have found nothing conclusive for the IS.
8082IS350 : Has misfire issue been resolved.....are 1, 3, and 5 still misfiring?
I still have the misfire issues on 1,3,5 and looks like it's timing issues. Timing is off 1 tooth on primary chain. Have you or anyone ever experienced that?
What are some different ways to adjust that 1 tooth off?
This video was helpful when I changed head gasket few weeks ago.... Look also how marks on the VVT gear marks (1dot and 2dot) at the back of the VVT gears (intake gears only) matches to markings on both banks, Bank1 and Bank2.... And just what confused me after initial main timing chain replaced was that the main timing chain "colored" marks most likely will not match on VVT gear markings if the main timing chain is replaced (new or old one). Right after if you turn the crank manually from the crank bolt, "colored" links most likely do not match to the markings.... There will be only certain times when they match again with both VVT gear markings (both banks) AND the crank marking (if I have understood timing correctly).
