IS350 2008 - Door Panel -Popular Fix?
Hi All- I have a 2008 w about 65000 miles- so trying to keep it nice. Just from general use, the soft part of the door panels get chunks and scratches in them. Its really cheap material for a Lexus. I have seen several years back about recalls etc.
Are folks reupholstering / replacing or is Lexus somehow addressing the defective panels - even if they cars are now older?
I'd like to not pay $700+ per panel (and made of same stuff).
Great car to drive- hoping for a fix - TIA!

If you do some searches for "sticky dash" in the forums there are multiple answers. Many involve having an upholstery shop cover the panels with a fabric/skin like pseudo-leather.
The ZLZ program was only for 10 years from purchase date although some members were able to get some help 12 years later. Either way your 2008 is like my 2008 and long past that deadline.

Not sure about reupholstering, but it would seem difficult with the kind of material the door panel is made out of. Dealerships have long since stopped doing voluntary recalls and it is unlikely that they would be willing to help. I called back in February asking about it, and they said they don't do it anymore and even gave me the date they stopped doing it like they had said the same message 500 times over! Worst part is, the last owner was on the waitlist to get it fixed, but they never went through with it.
