Default Gauge Cluster fuel and engine temperature needles not functioning properly?

The LED's on my cluster were going out, so I pulled out the cluster and replaced them, this included the fuel and engine temp needles. Unfortunately, I can't get them to function properly and actually point in the right direction anymore. Any idea on how to "recalibrate" them? Or just get them to function normally? What they do now is they point to the top left of the cluster. I've tried to set them in the regular off position so that on start up they go where they should go, but that doesn't help much because it isn't an accurate reading anymore, and it doesn't stay. Please help.

I have a 2006 IS350

This thread seems to give the correct procedure to align them.

that’s what I did to try and get the needles back to normal, I put them to the normal start positions. Now my gas needle ends up starting a little bit more than normal behind the gauge, and my temp needle doesn’t even seem to work anymore.

I'm sure you can redo the procedure. Try again. Post #25 of the tread has better detailed instructions.

Remember the needle is very sensitive. If it won't budge, don't force it.

Before you remove the needles, move it to 60mph, 6rpm, has at 1/2 and temperature at 1/2. When you put it back together, put it a little past the spot you removed it at.

I will use the tachometer as my example. Before removing it, i turn it CLOCKWISE to 6RPM. After finishing with the needle, i put the needle in at 8RPM, and turn COUNTERCLOCKWISE to the 0. If you happen to pass 0, DO NOT keep turning counter clockwise. Turn it CLOCKWISE until you feel it stiffen up and move it a tad. Then you turn back counter clockwise and stop it at the 0. If you are confused this DIY is not for you.

I’ll set both the gas and temperature needles to 1/2, and then pull them off, then i’ll put them back on at about 3/4, then turn them left to the regular starting position. Does this plan look sound?

Reach out to Binh on YouTube, or here. He's pretty good at answering.

I fixed the issue. What I did was even then though the needle were in the wrong position, I moved them enough to reach halfway on the gauge, then pulled them off completely. After that, I put the cluster back into the car, and ran it in ACC a few times to get the thing the needles sit on back to the normal positions. After that I followed the rest of the instructions from that other thread, and the put the needles on a little further then I took them off, the rotated them clockwise to the normal positions. I then powered it on to test it, and after I confirmed the needle readings were finally accurate, and pointing to the right positions, I took it out of the car for a day to let it sit. Then I put it back in and now it seems to be reading fine, and has been for the last few days. It also no longer turns back to the center of the speedometer and tachometer after being idle for a few hours.
