Default Instrument cluster fuel needle problem.

Greeting all,

Any help or advise please, My vehicle is 2013 lexus GS350
while i'm cleaning the instrument cluster i touched the fuel needle by mistake. I adjusted it to its correct place. Few days later I noticed that the needle is fell down when i switch off the engine and when i switch it on it goes between the full and the middle level (the fuel tank is full).

I opened the instrument cluster cover and returned the needle back to its correct level while the engine is off and the needle is not loose. I tested it, switch on and off the engine so many times it's completely working fine.

But the thing is, every time I came back to the vehicle after a while I saw the needle is falling down again. So i put a camera to record the needle to discover when it's falling down. Gues what!! it's fell down when I'm close to the vehicle before i unlock the doors. Actually all the cluster needles is sensing and give a little bid shake but the fuel needle fell down like it's trying to get back to its original level.

Hope my problem explanation is clear, down links is uploaded videos to the problem, Hope I can fix this.

i trim the video

your help and advises is highly appreciate it guys.

Why would one clean inside the sealed instrument cluster?

I am wondering if the system is detecting a voltage (needle in wrong place) differential and causing the needle to drop to indicate a 'fault' with that gauge so that you wont rely on it for your actual fuel readings. It is probably not easy to set it to the proper place to match what the sending unit is actually telling the gauge so either replace that gauge or as the dealer said, if not sold separately, may need a new cluster.

There are ways to set the new eeprom to the actual mileage (there are youtube videos) but you will have to hack it to work and you will have to indicate somewhere in the vehicle that the mileage was set.

You'r right. If the fuel gauge can be replaced that's fine i'll buy a used one and replace it, but what if the instrument cluster is all one part
