Default Engine stops accelerating after 5k rpms

Hey yall i have a 2010 rwd is250 auto
had some issues with the fuel pumps, just replaced both high pressure and low pressure as well as the filters in the tank at a dealership and drove away with no issues. Day 4 of having my car back and probably put on 150-250 miles since.
Coming to the issue im making this thread for,
i was driving and downshifted to the limit (ie. 2nd gear at 5k rpms.) I pressed on the gas and it would cut acceleration, i shifted up into 3rd and got into the 5k range. Same issue. I dropped into 1st and the issue seemed like less but i could still tell it wasnt acting how its supposed to. It would have no issues until i was pushing the peddle more then 50% and at 5 k rpms.

I just got here to work and have been researching it. Found nothing specific to what
im dealing with. I just came back out and im sitting in the car as im writing this. I tried to start it and it had some issues with that. Would sputter super low until for about 8 second before it actually started and has stayed running since.

no CEL or any light out of the ordinary from before.

i am no mechanic and dont have a clue of where to go from here. What does it sound like the issue is?

for clarification, when i say down shifted to the limit i mean the gear limit. I understand it limits rpms around 6500. It cut out power at 4500.

The engine has rev limiter for that purpose that prevents transmissions from being detonated.

I get that. My revs limit at 6500 not 5k i think you misread. I cant touch the limit because my acceleration would cut out before. It also had trouble starting after that so i dont think there is any tran issue

For the amount you just spent on the work done. I'd be calling the dealership.

What's the prior symptoms before it went into service?

Still sounds highly suspicious of fuel starvation to me. I'd take it back.

A test drive while monitoring fuel pressure, engine load, and fuel trims can help isolate the issue. If injector duty cycle is higher than norm while AFR shows a lean condition, these are signs of fuel starvation.

Does the engine have primium fuel in it after being at the dealer, and did they say if the tank was full of sediment? It could be that same sediment was never removed and the problem repeated itself. Which I woukd say is on them!

I’m experiencing a similar issue. It cuts out the acceleration so suddenly that I was/am starting to think it could be the transmission slipping. However it does this in gears 1, 2, 3, 4. I didn’t try 5 or 6. But it’s scary when at freeway speeds for the thought that the engine may just completely die so to speak while actively driving with other cars at 70+ mph.

I get a fuel /gas smell in the car periodically as well. But it seems to go away almost everytime as long as I have the “ac” button pressed on.

If I recall. You have mentioned several questions on your current mods. Catch can piping, and intake with PVC inlet delete. Now with the current issue of fuel smell in the cabin. Do you have any live data?

As for the fuel smell it could be leaking delivery pipes on the HPFP, rails, and even leaking injector o-rings. You need to inspect very well. Leaking fuel in the engine bay is a very dangerous situation.

Yodog,

I apologize. I had you confused on your mods with another member on my thread.
