Possible ECM issues
Hey all, new member here. So I just got an 05 LS430 from a client of my families shop down in Florida. My father in-law got
It off an older women who only put 118,000 miles on it and he has done most of the services in the car for years. Needed a head gasket so she parted with it. It also had the trac control light and check engine light on. I flew down to Florida to help take the motor out and send heads to machine shop and did a bunch of other preventative repairs like seals etc. while under the car it looked as though the original owner had a rebuilt transmission put in recently.
We got the motor back in and everything buttoned up. Well now we have some lifter noise which we assumed was some dirt that may have made its way in since we had motor out for 2 weeks even though I was extremely careful not to and kept everything covered at all times when I wasn’t working on a specific area. Well it hasn’t gone away so looks as though machine shop didn’t do their diligence with the lifter caps etc. so I’ll be tending to that yet again in the near future.
My question for you all is the issue with my transmission. It isn’t going into 5th or 6th gear. I’ve seen a lot of threads on here about the temp sensor or transmission temp sensor and TPS sensors etc. I’m thinking it’s an ECM issue seeing as I’m getting random codes. Knock sensor code, wheel sensor code, airbag code. These were codes that also showed up in the history so I’m confident now that they aren’t due to mishaps from taking motor out. I double checked everything again and all connections look good. The car runs great except the lifter noise from the right head. Data stream shows proper readings from possible culprit sensors except knock sensor showing negative 3 volts. Now the brake light is coming on and off. When I engage e brake pedal and release it it goes off and stays off. Today the airbag light just came on. Had the transmission fluid drained today and changed oil again with quality full synthetic and oil treatment to see if it helped the lifter noise. It didn’t sadly.
So long story long lol. Anyone have thoughts?
