Default cutting and welding stock headers

to make straight piped exhaust, this sound like a good idea? my mechanic offered me it,

Yes sir he's a mad man
He ounce replaced a frame on a chevy Tahoe
He said to cut the cats off and weld the straigh pipes the what to do with my 02 sensors idk

u can use an o2 simulator from token solutions to bypass ur o2 sensors without having a check engine light

Those cats are part of the header so I dont think he can get them in high flow. He could get the downstream one in high flow.

well this could be a custom headers, yes i could shell out and buy aftermarket ones
but could these be better?

cut and weld bigger down pipes?

doesnt sound 2 bad,

better in what way?

whats your shop's experience with header design? its not just weld up some pipes and youre done. there is some R&D involved

I had my aftermarket y-pipe and header merged together... downside when I got rid of the car, the "one piece" went with it too

Sounds pointless to me. Why don't you just get aftermarket, you can even get them on ebay for crying out loud. Then tell him to weld a hi flow cat on the y-pipe if you don't want to be catless. I would even tell him to display his mad man skills and make the header and y-pipe one piece like MY2J so you can avoid any leaks. That way you can keep your factory header incase you ever have to go back to stock, emissions purposes, etc. Or you can sell it and recoup some of your money back.
