Default Check Engine Light Fun!

Helllo,

I bought an IS300 Sportcross a few months ago and inherited a few problems. I knew going in it needed a couple O2 sensors based on the check engine light. I decided to replace all 4 sensors with Denso sensors. After that, I received a check engine light telling me I had a bad cat (closest to the manifold). So I replaced the cats near the manifold with a direct fit product from Magnaflow. I still had a check engine light (P0150) stating something is wrong at bank 2 sensor 2. I thought maybe the sensor was bad, so I swapped it for a new one. The check engine light is back on (P0156) still telling me something is wrong at bank 2 sensor 2. What could possibly be the problem? I should also mention that the car does not have the original rear exhaust, it is an Apexi system. Is an O2 simulator my only hope since I do not have factory exhaust? Any help would be much appreciated.

No you would not need an O2 sensor for the exhaust. Ok so you bought a magnaflow OEM replacement header. When you replaced the header or sensors did you disconnect the battery?

I have cleared the codes numerous times, they continue to come back on bank 2 sensor 2.

The magnaflow system was installed by a mechanic I use. I am not sure if he did or not. However, when I installed the sensor on bank 2 this last time I disconnected the battery to clear the codes.

It is mind boggling that I continue to get CEL codes on that same sensor that has now been replaced twice.

Verify that the harness did not have a bent pins that might not be making contact. And if they cut and spliced the sensor, make sure they soldered and not used regular connectors.
