any of you guys hear a " thud" sound coming from the rear of the vehicle when you shift gears...not always but a majority of the time..

Yes!!!

I have the same thud. Only when I take off quickly and punch on the gas. I had it looked at when I went in for service. They told me that my E-brake cable came loose. They tightened it, but I still get that same thud. I have learned to live with it until my next service when I go crazy on them to get the damn noise fixed.

 

I think all those thuds are normal. I read that somewhere. I can hear a low "thunk" when I put the car in first from a stop.

 

hey, i am new here, i have a new 2001 M3 and it also makes the thud sound that you described. its normal and i was told because the M3 has the new LSD. i am note sure about the IS300 but should be normal since most of you are having the same sound and is from the rear, so i am guessing is from the LSD. Just take it to the dealer.

anyway, i have a quick question for anyone to answer. does anyone know the compression ration for the IS300 ? thanks.
