Thumbs up SRT intake installed, pics inside

well i finished detailing my engine bay, and the srt intake is also installed. Last night i missed a vacum line during install, so today while detailing the engine i found it, reconnected it. found the horsepower i was missing last night.

its not hard to install. You need a quality solder iron to do it right though. get heat shrink tubing to cover to solder joints as well. It's sold by the soldering supplies. Put it on the wire before joining and slide it down. After soldering you slide it over the joint and heat it with a lighter or hair dryer. It shrinks up over to connection to prevent shorts. Its much better than regular electrical tape.

now that that vac line is hooked up it sounds good. slightly stronger sound. i have to say though, you should definately do an exhaust around the same time. when i first purchased my car a month and a half ago i could really feel how sluggish it was. it would still pull good but i knew there had to be more power inside that lil engine.

anyways the exhaust i lucked out with is a megan racing bpipe(or downpipe) not sure what you want to call it. and i have it pushing through the apexi n1. that helped quite a bit. definately keep the resonator in unless your cops are lax in the area. mine sounded amazing at idle. but started getting to loud with the res out. the exhaust is where most of my sound change came from.

the intake is easy as bolt on parts go. my dad did the electronics while i did the mechanical side. we finished about the same time. i did some prep work before hand. i used high temp black paint for the heat shield. just felt it looked better. the rest i left as it was out of the box.

if you are going to do an upgrade on the intake, go ahead and do the srt...you wont be sad. pair it with a header back exhaust and the car does great. i noticed my upgrades really kick in hard after second gear. on the highway you will run out of road before hp.

anyways thats the novice is300 owner. and thanks for the kind words on the engine bay. when i got the car that area was extremely dirty. not anyMORE!
