its about time.. i lost to a 330i.. this is the first time out of ..i dont know how many races... i will admit to losing.. but i will give u a few facts.. i had 2 people in the car.. he had one.. and i had my ac BLASTING... we raced from a rolling start..he had the jump... raced to about 130... or so... on a straight downhill where there was no traffic.. he was about 2 carlengths ahead of me when we slowed down..

 

That's hardly a "loss"....with the AC and an extra person...

 

Tical...I raced a BMW 740 last night. I was surprised how well my car kept up. I lost but for some reason it looked like I was inching up. Off the line I took him. I upshiffted early into third gear. Damn that 2nd gear in my face. and he blew by me by about half a car. The second time I again took him from the line but again he passed me when the car went into second gear. By third gear he had a quarter panel on me. But it seemed like I was catching up. We got up to about 80MPH and then slowed down. Good race. He liked the moves.

I had the best race yesterday. Met a 330 in the intersection. And we began our race. He got the jump (btw, is there any way i can do to make my car faster from 0 to 60mph??) But after that, we are pretty close. That was fun though , never thought i could keep my car that close to a 330. Makes me proud

i raced a taxi today..
funniest thing..
the taxi driver was tailing me cuz i was kinda driving just the speed limit (35) on the street after picking up my girl friend from her house, and the street only had two lanes each way, and the other lane was a granny in a mercedes driving slow too...
i guess he was in a rush cuz at the stop light, he went into the right turn lane and during a red light, blasted thru the intersection to make sure that he was in front of all the cars to get onto the freeway..
anyways..i wait for the green and guess what?, i end up next to him getting ready to get on the freeway..now the fun began..there are two lanes to get onto the freeway, and at the end, they merge into one lane...
the taxi driver looks at me and flicks me off, like im some punk in a yellow IS300 ( which im not ), and revs his engine real loud..
my girl friend, who is against racing and driving fast, leans over and kisses me and PUSHES the power button on and said, "kick his ***.."
i was like whoa!! this is soo cool..she wants me to race.. (i bet all you guys are jealous now huh??)
so anyways, the light turns green and both our cars screech a little ( i had trac off) and we both go gunning it up the on ramp...
in first gear, i knew i had this monkey.. in first gear i was about 1/3 a car length a head, in second , about 1/2 a car length, and finally into third i am fully in front of this coco nut eating pet..as we merge, i let him know that the IS300 falls to know one(hehe) and give a nice little punk salute with my hazard lights... i think this really pissed him off more..when we got onto the freeway, it was empty and i just let the 2JZ-GE engine eat all the premium it could.. finally at about 120mph, my girl friend said to slow down and that i had already won and it was no use in wasting more gas...
so i did, and as the taxi monkey passed me he just smiled like a clowned fool...
man, this was definately one of the coolest races i have had in a long time...

Dude, I'm totally jealous !!!!!!! If I try to do the same thing while my gf is in the car , she probably yell really loud ---> WTF are you trying to do, kill me or something???

 

lol.. u guys are lucky..ur gf's only scream.. my girl starts to beat me upside the head... or hits my arm..which isn't very smart when im accelerating...

Do you have any mods to your car or was it a straight run? That 330 has about 10 more horsepower than your car so I would expect a loss!

 

Oh, for an Autobahn here on this side of the Atlantic!
They'd never go for it here though...
1. People don't know how to drive
2. People insist on driving junkers that won't hold the road at high speeds.
3. People don't follow rules (like moving over to let faster traffic pass)
4. Road surfaces here are generally not well maintained

You have to have ORDNUNG (order) to make that work.
But it sure is FUN over there!

 

how did the IS handle at 120. I am always curious about that 146 top speed number. Anyone reached it?

 

I think that top speed is supposed to be 143.

 

at 120, you dun really notice how fast you are until u look at the console...really smooth...
seriously, i didnt even think i was that high until my gf told me to stop,,..

man, this gf is a keeper...17, asian, likes to race..(and DAMN HOT!!!) whoo hooo!!! and i got a great car!!
man, life is good...

oh and i know when not to race too, usually, i just cruise, i hardly race at all..

i've had the car to 130, really fast and still hadnled good.. not too shaky or anything..just kinda an adrenaline rush

 

I've discussed this insipid topic with Tical b4 at IS300.net. I agree with the b0mb, excessive speeds such as those are just stupid and imature. Racing is one thing but 130?! uh uh

You think you're in control until the drunk guy up ahead swerves into your lane, then you're both dead. Or you get a blow out on a lazy right hand curve in the road, and you take out a couple of oncoming cars before you end up as daisy food.

I ride my bicycle on the road a lot. I would be extremely afraid if I saw a car passing me or heading towards me at 130 mph. I don't care how much in control the driver "thinks" he is.

IMO 130 on a open public roadway increases the chances of something bad happening.
