How can I tell if my IS300 2003 is equipped with the LSD? I have the Sport Design

The is300 has been released with LSD since 99' so i'm pretty sure the sports cross also has the LSD it just doesnt make any sense if they didn't have LSD in the sports cross because ur's should also be equipped with all that stuff...

I don't know about the east coast, but here in California LSD only comes on the 5 speed car. Sport Design or no Sport Design, it didn't matter. And also, the IS300 came out in 2001, FYI.

not really, from what i know MOST of the is300 does NOT have lsd. it's an option and a lot of people don't have it

yup that's right, that's why i got 5 speed, right? and actually, you can know if your car has lsd in couple of ways.

1) from a dead stop, floor your car. if both wheels spin, you got lsd. if only one spins, sorry
2) if your car is 5 speed, you have lsd for sure. if your car is auto, and you didn't "order" the lsd, then you most likely don't
3) if you look at the driver side door jam, you can actually read it to see if you have lsd. i forgot what letters you have to look out for, see if i can find it

sorry guys, but just what is so good about LSD and what does it do?

lsd - limited slip differential. it put power to both the rear wheels instead of just one when you floor it and provided that both wheels are having the same traction. on the other hand, and at the same time when you do cornering or so, where one wheel is having more traction than the other one, the one with more traction will get more power

its good for drifting! im thinking of getting a is3005spd but all i want is just a lsd with the car no options and dealers invoice!

EDIT - correction


Open the driver's door and look at the sticker with the different codes on it.
If you have an '02 manual, B01B indicates you have the LSD.
If you have an '01 auto, B02C indicates you have LSD; if B02A then you don't.
I assume that the codes are the same for the 02/03/04 autos and the 03/04 manuals.

Would the Vehicle Skid Control option be necessary on the E-shift model? What does this option do?

Good question, I had this light come on the other day and I'd remember it was raining at the time the light came on. It looked like the car skid for a moment.

definitely something nice to have. to me it's just a matter of time before it's standard, just like airbag

No but I think it's nice to have.

This option is always on and come only onthe E shift.

The Lexus VSC system stops your Lexus slipping sideways as a result of strong understeer or oversteer during cornering. A computer corrects this tendency to drift by decreasing the engine's output and applying the wheel brakes.


Think fail-safe.

It's a matter of preference.
I dislike traction control on dry days. But in wet weather it saved my *** a few times.
