maybe this is where I'm going wrong.
I guess enjoy the luxury car and don't worry about an extra 8 more MPG!
I am only sharing my experience and how the computer controlled hybrid engine behaves.
For example- If you put it in S-mode, almost always never turns off the ICE when you come to stop at the stop light, so the ICE is using your gas. Put it back in regular drive mode and if the hybrid battery is at certain level, and the engine is already warm enough the ICE will turn off at stops.

I live in NJ. Warming up definitely isn't doing me any favors. It usually runs the entire 10 min warmup cycle and sometimes more.

I wish I would have gone with the 450 but it wasn't an option in 23 unfortunately. Most of my driving is short trips under 10 miles.

Very disappointed in this car so far. Wish it had a v6 at least
The RX450h+ actually gets slightly worse fuel economy in hybrid mode than the RX350h. That is due to the very heavy battery. Of course, it burns no gas in EV mode. My lifetime average if I don't account for EV use is 38. Most of my miles have been on road trips with little or no access to charging though. I always use AC, heat, heated seats, and normal mode.

If you had a v6, you're fuel economy would be even worse.

Using remote start, combined with the relatively short trips is certainly hurting your fuel economy. That said, I'd be doing the same with these cold temperatures and just accepting the extra fuel burn.

I doubt anything is wrong with your vehicle, though I'd still mention your concerns to the dealer service advisor when you get the 10k service. I think it's just the nature of your driving taking its toll. My guess is that you would be seeing low 20s or even high teens if you had a non-hybrid RX350.

We are in NJ as well. Trip mileage (not lifetime) is 15% worse since the weather got cold here. Yesterday, the drivetrain took 5 miles to initiate EV mode, rather than the 1.5 miles it took when warm. BRRRRRRR

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I accelerate slowly and brake slowly to get most recharge. Stay in right and center lanes. Use premium fuel from Costco.

Is something wrong with my car? My ice engine is almost always running even when I start it in the am.

Edit: sorry for typos
A cold hybrid will get pretty poor mileage. My 350h will get 15 mpg cold. Then when I'm at 4 bars (fully warm), it will run 35-40 mpg. If yours is running cold for half of the duration of each of your trips, 27mpg sounds about right.

I would not recommend ECO mode if you're in the middle of winter in NJ. Your heat may be inconsistent. There's a customize option for mode. You can customize for ECO except when you need cabin temp control, in which case it runs normal mode.

Also check your tire pressures. I raised mine from 34 psi to 40 psi and gained a couple mpg.

My luxury 350h has an aggregate average of 30.7 after just over 11,000 miles. I was extremely disappointed by this performance, but I have tried the following over the last 500 miles or so:
  • NOT driving well over the speed limit on the highway (I normally set my cruise control at 83 MPG)
  • Driving in the right or middle lane on the highway
  • Using premium instead of regular gas
I'm starting to notice a pleasant change in performance. I live in Florida, so keeping the car warm is usually not a problem.

In mixed 75 and 80 mph interstate runs, around 28 mpg would not be surprising. Fuel economy increases quickly as speeds are reduced.

Default RX350h mpg

I have a 2023 Rx350h with approximately 6,000 miles. When I first got the car, I was getting 36 mpg in the summer time. Granted it is now cold outside, I am only getting 32.8 mpg with a mix of 3/4 city driving and 1/4 freeway driving. It doesn’t matter if I use regular or premium gasoline. What are other’s experiences?

There is a sticky in the hybrid section. Your post will probably be moved there soon.

Cold weather will certainly have a negative effect on fuel economy.

Should there be a sticky for 450h+ as well? I'd love to read what others are getting for EV range and then hybrid.

I started a thread. Not sure what goes into decisions to make a sticky. There isn't one for the RX350 either.

2024 RX 350h owned for 5 weeks. First trip about 80% highway. 152 miles 41.6 mpg. Averaging 38 mpg overall. Expecting 39 mpg with warmer weather coming and engine getting broken in.

Default Trip average info screen

Is there any way to get Trip Average mpg information on a car with HUD? This information pops up for a short time after powering off the vehicle but doesn't seem to be available otherwise. Thanks.

What sort of speeds do you drive on the highway? We are averaging about 36 mpg with about 80% highway driving. We drive at 80 mph, but I imagine I would get ~40+ at 65/70 mph.

Last year I took a trip and when I drove one section at 80mpg my MPG went down to 28. I usually average 37-38 at 65-70.

not on the HUD, but as long as the car is running:

From the center screen:
