So, my '09 GS450h radiator popped a small leak that I never noticed, overheated and hydro-locked on the freeway. I'm swapping for another engine, but my question is:
Do I need to do any special coding in TechStream for the new engine, or is it a straightforward swap? Will it do anything weird to my odometer? Is there anything else I'm missing or should pay attention to?

If you replace only mechanicals like the engine no registration in Techstream is needed. For example, my friend replaced a transfer case last week on his BMW and the car couldn’t recognize it. Then he just swap the electronics from the old transfer case and now it works like a charm.
Yes if is just replacing the engine block and reciprocating assembly, but you are retaining the existing ECU, harness, components, likely you will not need to re-code anything,
But such an engine change, I will use techstream after the swap just to clear codes, check sensors anyway...
