2018 RX450 Idle for 8 hrs
Hello
I forgot to turn off the engine last night due to all distraction from the Halloween trick or treaters. Is my battery damage? Do I need to have them check out? My car was on in the garage until the morning
Thanks for any advices.

With the engine going backing and forth from battery mode to gas mode, thank goodness you didn't get carbon monoxide poisoning if your garage is connected to your home.
I am a Prius owner lurking before purchasing a Lexus. I can't conceive why your car or battery would be damaged. Your wasted gas is probably the only thing negative out this.

Nope. vehicles, hybrid included, can idle till there is gas in tank.
Send warm regards to Toyota that does not have some sort of time cut off or "no key inside the car" measure to prevent such things from happening.

Wait, isn't there an auto-shutoff if the car senses the key fob is gone for more than 30 minutes or so?
EDIT: Lexus service guy says car would shut down if left in Accessory Mode but otherwise just cycle on/off if left on. BUT I'd imagine the engine would only turn on briefly every 15 minutes or so to keep warm and keep the batteries happy.

There is some question as to whether the meter shows full charge, when it is at the top or if that reading shows 80%. The point is that the computer keeps the battery between 20% and 80% for optimal battery life. The computer is constantly keeping the battery between those 2 points, and so there is nothing to worry about, unless the meter were to show zero or 100% all the time.
Yes, the top and bottom of the battery meter do not correspond to literally a full or empty traction battery. The hybrid engineers figured out the optimum max and min that gave the longest battery service life and set those data points as top and bottom.
Furthermore, the engineers don't want to even "top off" that battery range, in order to leave room for regenerative braking needs. In fact, if the battery gets TOO full they spin the ICE (with fuel flow cut off) in order to burn off excess charge.
