Default Extended Warranty worth it?

Just bought a CPO 2007 GS 450h with 49k miles. It has a 3 year - 100k Mile warranty. I only drive around 8000k miles a year so essentially it is a 3 year warranty. I opted not to buy a warranty on my wife's RX 350 due to the quality of these machines but Im wondering if I should protect myself further on my car due to the hybrid technology. The dealership said I can extend my CPO warranty to 6 years 100k miles for an extra $2200. Worth it?

I would. It's cheap insurance. My 07 GS450h (97k miles) has spent a sizable portion of its life in a dealership for silly problems. I had no extended warranty option on mine and I'm horribly regretting it. It's an expensive toy with lots of gadgets. Stuff malfunctions.

That $2200 dealer warranty seems like a "steal". I would definitely consider it. My car has 60k mi and I'm looking to purchase an extended warranty as well. I just purchased it about a week ago.

Yes I would def extend the CPO warranty its a good investment but the CPO warranty does not cover the Hybrid battery and inverter. Those are covered by the 8 year or 100K hybrid warranty.

Default Extended warranty

I got a 2010 RX 450h CPO 2 weeks ago, and decided to get. Experience with our 07ES350 during its 3 year CPO was enough to convince me. Enough issues covered but had they been after CPO expired I'd been out mega bucks. Since the 2010 RX450h only has 11800 miles hope to keep for many years and well past the 3 year CPO warranty.
If buying TVs etc no way. Pure profit for seller and not worth it.

I went to the Lexus dealership this morning to inquire about a warranty. I bought my car used, its an 07 model with 61k miles. The rep offered me a bumber to bumer (Platinum coverage) 5 years 60K miles for roughly $3700. is this a good price or do they negotiate the price?

If I kept a Lexus past basic warranty, for peace of mind,I'd buy one and have from Troy Dietrich..
However,it would be a discounted Lexus Platinum warranty discounted from these guys.Like 35%-40% off dealer list.

Troy Dietrich Greenfield Toyota 413-772-0231

This guy is said to be a bit cheaper.

Thanks, I live in Maryland. Will he still be able to sell me a warranty? I was told that warranties have to be purchased in the state that your car was inspected???????

The warranty can be bought out of state.
A few years ago I bought a warranty from Troy Dietrich in MA and I'm in Jersey. Also didn't pay sales tax.

If over on the 4/50 basic,no Lexus Platinum warranty can be purchased.

i thought that too but there is a similar thread in the 2IS forum and members have bought them when out of the 4yr/50k mark however it cost more to do so. now im not sure if it only applies if your just barely out or if it just cost more depending on how much your over. maybe someone can shed some info on this?

There may be something but not the typical Lexus Platinum warranty.I've always heard and read you have until the 4/50.
