What's going on people! My check engine light came on and it says "check hybrid system!" Has this happened to anyone? Gotta make a trip to the dealer...

 

I thought when that happens it means the Hybrid battery is overheating and you need to let it cool down, or maybe you have something in the back blocking the cooling fan or there is no coolant fluid!

 

I was just hoping it was for maintenance! I have nothing blocking the fans or anything... Hopefully, the warranty will cover it! Geez!

 

Restarted, I just got the same thing, what was the outcome of this when you brought it in ARCHIE450h.

 

I had the same problem today! I went to service and they said that problem might cause error in computer which is for battery charging level. Also it might be that 1 of battery parts is not recharging fully. Gs450 battery has 24 battery sections and 1 of them might be almost gone.
It was not F..king good news for me as well! So no i am thinking what to do... Paying 7k usd for new battery is not good. I would better buy MB S55 with extra 10k usd...

Guys any advice?

 

What I'm lost, your battery is not charging in one section, how many miles do you have on your car. If they say that is the reason than yeah I would trade that in and get something else. Doesnt make sense to pay that amount of money.

 

i don't understand why you would have to pay for a new battery, it should be under warranty.

according to lexus.com, US GSh has the following warranty:

Hybrid Vehicle System

Hybrid System Warranty coverage is for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first, and covers the following components: Hybrid control module, Hybrid battery control module, Hybrid battery and inverter with converter.

even for me up in canada, my warranty is similar at 8 years and 160,000 km. i would check with your dealer to confirm your warranty, unless of course you have driven more than 160,000 km or 100,000 miles.

 

I have almost 50,000 miles on my car. Reason I am not trying to get new battery on warranty because I am in Kazakhstan not in Europe or US. Also local lexus dealership just started selling hybrid model this year. Also they say about warranty to go exact dealership where You bought your car. (( So i really dont know what to do. And Today i started selling my car. And decided to go for Lexus LS460.

 

call lexus head office in your country or europe and tell them to authorize repair work for your GS450h because the dealer in your country is giving you the run around. there should be no reason why your dealer won't fix your car if it is still under warranty, even if you bought it somewhere else.

for example, if i bought my GS450h in the USA, i can still get it repaired under warranty in canada. should be the same for you, i don't see why lexus would deny you that right.

but a LS460 is also a very nice car. just remember that it won't have the same type of feeling when driving. which is why one of our member here sold his LS460 and got a GS350 instead.

My Check Hybrid Light came on and I worried about it non-stop (CHECK ECB also on at the same time). I got lucky and had an awesome technician who isolated it to a shorted connector in the right front kickpanel which caused a fuse to blow and kill one of the many power sources feeding one of the many computers. Close call. All error lights gone.

 

You can go to any auto parts store for them to scan the code to tell you what is wrong. If its just the check engine light it could be a few things. If the VSC, check hybrid system, X-mas lights come on, that is worse.
