Default Air Conditioner Works Great

I live in Oklahoma with our hot summers. Temps 90-100 during day. The electic A/C is incredible on our RX450h. It cools down the cabin rapidy and keeps it comfortable. It works well with the ventilated seats.
Thanks
Terry

I was test driving the 450h on a 100+ deg day in Sacramento and after the test drive the Salesman was showing me the NAV system after I shut the engine off.
To my suprise, 10 minutes later the AC was still blowing frigid cooled air. I asked him how it does this with the engine off and he told me the AC is electric powered. I thought this is great! While sitting in the car waiting for my kids to get out of school or piano lessons in 100+ degree weather I can sit in comfort without having to leave the engine on.

This means he had the accessories on, right? Otherwise, I don't see how this was possible.

The car is on but the gas engine shuts off when the car is stationary. The electic A/C runs on the battries. The batteries recharge very rapidly within a few miles when the car is moving again in my AWD.

Yes, but my point is once you turn off the power, which is what I believe hensta stated ("after I shut the engine off") on the previous post, that's it. You will not get any AC. Everything shuts down. You must have the power button on the accessory position in order to get AC. It is obviously also true that the gas engine will turn off and stay off up to a point after you stop and the AC will run on the battery or until you turn off the power button.

The A/C does not work when the power button is in the accessory position on my AWD.

Off the topic... does RX 450h or 350 have the solar sensor which will help adjust the AC/heater automatically?

Thanks.

It has the little intake fan in the dash to pull air past a thermostat. What it does after reading the cabin air is dependent on what you've set the interior temp at. If there's anything else I'm not aware of it.

It does not have the solar powered ventilation system.

No it doesnt have the solar sensor like that found on the LS. All it has in the ambient interior temp and works like an AUTO air conditioner
