Default Breaking in the 450h

I will be picking up my baby in two weeks My dealer is 37 miles away from my house, mostly highway @ 65 MPH+. I don't want to push it right away. This is my first hybrid. What do I do? I can take lots of side roads. Definite increase in travel time but no problem with me

Thanks!

the hybrid components dont need to be "broken" in like a normal engine, so those things are still applicable.

If/When you take the freeway, do not use the cruise control and try not to stay at a steady pace. I know it sounds weird to do, but vary your speed so the car isnt traveling at a constant 65. Once again, no sudden braking or accelerating. baby it for the first 1000 miles and you will be rewarded in the future with better gas mileage and performance.

I'll take the scenic route. I can drive up and down hills, vary speed, take some nice turns and stop every now and again. Traffic should be light so I can enjoy myself. If I drive under 65 on the highways, they'll run me off the road in a second. Crazy @%!$@ drivers around here!

Thanks!

It is actually copied from the hybrid's owner's manual

Mostly just enjoy it. And spend some time in your driveway playing with the new toys (I nearly wrecked mine three days into it fiddling w/stuff while turning). There are so many new things or old things that work differently you might find driving your old car while texting easier to do. But enjoy it. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/4677062-post1.html

Anita, the dealer will likely tell you that there is no formal break-in period for the RX or pretty much any new vehicle these days. However, the advice from RXSF is very sound. We have been "babying" ours to a point. But since we have now driven it to a little more than 700 miles, we are not too concerned if we travel a bit above 70 mph at times.

You will love the car!

Thanks to all. I'll still go with the side roads. Don't want a bug collection by the time I get home
