With the 4.4 (rather than the 4.8), I am not too surprised given figures I have seen, but it is interesting to see this in actuality rather than theory.
With my own RX300, I have kicked the 3.0 version of the X5 back in Mexico, but never faced off against a 4.4 or 4.8, but I do know the 4.8 was about 2 to 2.5 seconds faster than me in the 1/4 when it ran solo one time at my track.

Still have a few more things I'd like to do, with the next one probably being some crankshaft vent filters.
I actually do have a 1/4 mile track to the east of me, Bradenton Motorsports Park, and I plan to soon take it over there. Haven't run yet at sea level since I got back from Mexico in April.

In Mexico City and with a 7,411 foot altitude, the record was 17.931 (and that was done on somewhat of a weather anomaly night where I think the oxygen content was way high in the air), but this run of 17.939 fits the bill, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKjREZMauNA
The RX300 is not a high altitude vehicle, but some vehicles like the Toyota 4Runner and even the Jeep Liberty, don't lose as much pep at altitude, generally the higher liter vehicles perform a bit better.
