Default First LS600hL problem... Trunk won't open (resolved: glovebox trunk button was on)

I just ran into my first LS600hL "problem" (other than hating the nav lockout), which is as serious to me...

My tunk won't open. Once it gets "locked", it won't unlock. I can unlock it with the key, and then the inside button and outside button will work - UNTIL, the doors/trunk get locked, then the buttons cease to work, and I have to go back to the key to get it open again.

This all worked at one time - as in yesterday morning, I opened the trunk with the button as normal, drove a while, and when I went to get the stuff out of the trunk, it just didn't work anymore. i.e. It worked maybe 10-20 times without any problems after I took delivery - it just stopped working

Anyone else have this problem?

I'll call lexus in the morning - given it's under 400 miles, and I've only had it about 1 week, I'm sure it's under warranty :-)

Is the trunk unresponsive or will it open slightly? At Taste of Lexus for some reason the 600hL there had it where the key was needed and the button didn't fully work.

It just doesn't unlock - no movement of the trunk at all - it will open and close just fine until it (and the other doors get "locked"). Once that happens, no matter what you do it won't unlock - until you use the key. Then it will work until it locks again. It appears that the unlocking mechanism in the trunk died.

I'm going to assume here that you didn't disable the trunk opening feature switch in the glove box, right?

Ahh... Nevermind :-)

Unbelievable. One of my kids must have pushed it yesterday. The downside of kids - they want to push every button in the car to "See what it does" :-)

I feel "stupid". Other than quickly throwing my registration/insurance stuff in there, I haven't even looked at the glove box - I didn't even know it existed.

Why exactly would you want to disable the trunk release? Nice of lexus to give us the choice to enable/disable a trunk opening lockout, but not the nav system :-) Ugg.

"Why exactly would you want to disable the trunk release?"

u press that button. Then you lock glove box with a key. Take key with yourself and give remote controler for hotel driver to park your car with all the stuff in your trunk safely locked...

yes it's for valet, you lock everything in the trunk and glove box and no one can open them

Blaming it on your kids. You should be ashamed of yourself. We all know it was your fault!
