Default Range on a full tank??

Our XC90 lease is up soon. Looking at many options. The 400h catches my attention in one area. With bad mileage and a small tank the Volvo needs to be filled up every week. A real pain. So I wonder what you all are experiencing in the real world. When you fill up your tank how many miles do you get out of it? I know it sounds like a stupid reason but I'm willing to pay a premium for convenience. I guess that's why we like luxury cars. Convenience. Thanks in advance for your respnse. By the way , you all have a nice forum. I'm an Audi/ MB forum guy and just started here because of the LS460L.

i dont have a 400h,,,, but as far as i know,,,, the gas mileage on the highway is about the same as every other suv in this class,,,,, its the street driving that gets awesome mileage,,,, so if you drive a lot on the side streets,,, this could be the vehicle for you..

I get about 350-375 on a tank of gas depending on how hard i drive. Keep in mind that is city/highway driving, but mostly city.

Long distance, highway use I am getting 30 mpg (UK gallons),so that would equate to at least 450 miles on a full tank. And that is without sparing the horses, travelling at 75-80mph.

In town you may get better mileages than this,if you do reasonably long distances within an urban connurbation. What seems to kill the mpg in this car are short urban distances where the car doesn't get a change to warm up properly.

Hee hee,I probably spelt it wrong-is it conurbation?

Yep,it is used around here to refer to an large town/city where urban sprawl has grown to such a degree that surrounding towns are absorbed into that urban area.Like has happened with London,Birmingham or Manchester for instance in England, where you can leave the city limits, enter another town and not see any countyside in between them!

I guess you have many of your own examples!

Default Oh yes we have our own conurbations....

to the point that larger cities have spread like giant amoebae that now touch each other into one continuous mass without countryside anymore. Baltimore/Washington are two galaxies colliding quietly together. We have a beltway that defined inner/outer areas around Washington. Baltimore has their own beltway. They are connected together by I-95 forming a giant barbell existence. We need all of the hybrids we can get and navigation too.

Without turning on the A/C, I can reach 420 with about 50% highway and 50% local driving. I am sure everyone can reach this if do more on highway driving since keep 30MPG is easy to keep speed around 63 MPH.

Out tank cap is around 17 gallons, 17x30 =510 miles if driving with care on the gas paddle, and remember, there are also the electric motors' help also when drving slow.

Of course, enjoy driving is an different issue. In last 4 weeks, I been driving with fulltime A/C on for typical california summer, and keeping the paste at the speed about the same as main flow... I still get around 380 miles, or 24 MPG rate.

Hope these numbers do some help.
