Forwarding this scan of the Motor Planet / Car and Driver magazine in Hong Kong from TDLI @ my.is.
What in the article that is new to us (since I read Chinese) is the mention of the LS600h using a "5.0L V8" rather than the "350hp" 4.6L V8 found in the regular LS460. The article also reaffirms the coming of an IS500 and a Corolla 4WD Turbo. Also interesting is the news of a new 190hp ECHO using the same 1.8L engine from the Celica GT-S. Too bad they still aren't putting that gem in a RWD car (Elise aside).
Don't care much for this particular interpretation of the L-finesse design for the LS, though.

I seriously doubt that's what the new LS will look like. These 'spy photos' usually resemble nothing like the real thing, based on past experience. We probably won't see the real thing until right before the official unveiling.
An exaggerated bloated IS photoshop job. I highly doubt the new LS will look anything like that. I remember there were rumor photos of the Gen2 LS back in the day...it almost resembled the Gen1's sleek lines (including projector headlamps and all) but it never flourished. I will have to dig that issue of Motortrend and scan it in!
Now that we have the first article that reports/speculates the engine displacement of the LS600h, we can proceed to begin a more informed horsepower speculation.
Assuming the LS600h comes with the same 5.0L V8 reported to be in the IS500, it shall have around 400hp from the petrol engine to boot (could be detuned a bit for cleaner emission stats a la the 225hp->208hp V6 in RX400h). And assuming the electric motors are the same (if not better) ones used in RX400h, which add at least 60hp to the peak output, the total peak horsepower figure should be around 460hp, not a far cry from the 493hp 5.5L TT V12 S600 and better than the 438hp 6.0L V12 760i.
Again, this is my guesstimate only.

And it will undoubtedly be WAY more fuel efficient (the S600's 12MPG isn't a hard figure to beat).
but the content is interesting (thank god i read chinese).
so they are talking about the is500, now that's something big man. with about 400hp, that's going head to head with m3 and c55, very interesting stuff. it's hard to believe that car is coming, but for sure i want to see that happening
and the ls600h with the 5L engine (assume 400hp) and a hybrid, that's going to go head to head with amg cars too i suppose.
man, lexus is coming out with something very very nice. really time to hold off and pay attention huh
Even just the LS500 WITHOUT the hybrid motor sounds better to me, may be they're doing the the same thing as the new GS, introduce the new LS with the 460 engine, & then upgrade it to LS500 a couple years later
5.0 litre with HSD sounds great to me, but it's all speculation until it's official from Lexus & I won't trust any photochops from asian magazines

yeah, 5L engine on the car would be nice, though i don' tknow when it will come out. the 4.6 engine next yr will be all new, so maybe at least 2 yrs before the ls500 come out?
