"new" aftermarket battery pack -- 36 month warranty -- costs 2K to 3K. ( probably will last less than 4 years )
Whats the Dealer price on a new NEW OEM battery $3500?

My pack is getting weak too, I get the check hybrid system a few times a week, been using scanner to clear the code and back to normal for a few days, until a situation comes up and there is high load on the pack like cruising on ev mode, or part throttle in and out on up and downhill. Now I bought a cheap bluetooth obd2 dongle for $2 and I can clear the code through my phone and the app called car scanner with it. I been driving 15k miles like this last few months. But prob in the Summer I change some of the cells maybe 4 or 5 , I have to check the individual voltages on the cells int he weak blocks cells and pair the remaining weak ones to the strongest ones. I can see in my Techstream it is weak in Blocks 7 10 and 11, with each block pairing 2 cells. But theoretically I could drive with a bad battery pack forever because it will run on the ICE engine, but i wont get the mpg benefits of the hybrid. I have seen Camrys and Avalons still driving with weak packs past 500k miles

I do not have direct quote from Dealer -- CAlled few times and it was PITA to get even simple quote with talking with parts and service deparment -- I heard numbers $4800 or more and only warranty for 1 year --
Instead aftermarket batteries costs from 2000 to 3500 and comes with upto 6 years warranty.
I have used battery disconnect reset method for few times already. It runs on Hybrid for sometime and then showed me lights again. I can tell my engine hesitates and feel some vibration when the hybrid isn't engaged..
Honestly, I am bit disappointed with Dr Prius App. It would not finish the battery test and then I can download the battery details ( like internal resistance , voltage etc ) when the battery is not engaged ( With dashboard error ) but when I look at numbers - I can't tell if anythign is wrong with those cells as all cells show similar numbers. I wish I had Tech Stream and get some definitive answer in terms of overall battery cell quality.

You do not need Techstream to diagnose hybrid battery. You can get much better statistics with Dr. Prius app and $5 Bluetooth adapter.

I have both Dr. Prius App and BlueTooth Adapter.. I have downloaded logs of the data while driving using Dr. Prius App. I have no clue on how to interpret the data to figure out which ones bad cells. Dr. Prius provides "test" for battery but those do not complete despite trying many many times.

With Techstream you can see more parameters and they are more accurate.

Connect it, do a screen record and upload it here.

Dr Prius is useless. Don’t waste time or money on it.

You already know the answer. Need a new traction battery.

Disagree:
* Dr. Prius displays all the parameters relevant to the hybrid battery diagnostic.
* Techstream is more accurate??? Really? Both display the same data from the onboard diagnostic and have no effect on accuracy.
* Dr. Prius dynamically displays all the individual cell voltages/resistance in bar form as you drive, Techstream displays them only as a bunch of numbers. Good luck determining which cells to replace by eyeballing 17 different 4-digit numbers while you drive.
* Dr. Prius also offers you a battery overall health/capacity test - a feature that is not available on Techstream at all.

P.S. I regularly use Techstream/Dr.Prius/Carista/Launch scan tool and have first hand experience with all four.

Dr. Prius for example displays battery resistance, which is off by a lot, Techstream displays 0.019 but Dr. Prius 0.025.
Then, Dr. Prius does not show all the blocks, only 11, there are 17.
Techstream displays the numbers, displays voltage for every cell, highest and lowest cell. Then, you do not need to eyeball the numbers while you drive, you can record the data and check it while stationary.
Yes, it displays the battery overall heath which is not accurate, test it 10 times and every time I receive different numbers. Also, Delta SOC is not accurate, sometimes shows 1%, after 2 hours of driving 2,5%, etc.

I communicate with Mr. Jack regularly and I help him in app development.
The best thing about Dr. Prius is the option to turn on the battery cooling fan.

Easy way is to do a load test on the hybrid battery. Put it is accessory mode and crank up the heat and see the voltage blocks in real time until the low battery warning goes on, or until the hybrid error comes up.

Techstream shows the block average but there are 2 cells in each block. It might be 1 of the 2 or both cells are weak, only way to tell is disassemble and measure after a drain or load test.

btw I downloaded the DrPrius app but it wouldnt pair with my cheap Elm327 then again I got the knock off version for $1.50

Gonna stick with Techstream since I got the VXDiag working
