Default ES300h 2013 - P0A80

Hi -- I am trying to dig into issue that I started seeing my car -recently -- 143K Miles -- 2013 Lexus ES300h --
I got a light "Check Hybrid System" Yesterday.
Right now, besides check hybrid system -- It has master warning light ( triangle with exclamation) and check engine light on.
I feel bit sluggish when car is around 40 mph or feel engine working extra when driving below 40 mph.
Cruise control stopped working but all other car electronics, lights, indicators works fine.
I can see on the screen that hybrid battery isn't supplying any power to motor -- but hybrid battery does charge and discharge while driving going from purple( low ) to all the way to almost full.
I went to AutoZone and their scanner said P0A80 and replace Hybrid battery --
However, if battery is charging and discharging normally why would I need to replace battery of my car ?
Are there any checks I can do further to pinpoint the issue?

Bit history --
Before this light came on, when I started the car I could feel some sluggishness while initially driving below 40.
Yesterday, When the check hybrid system message came on, it came with traction yellow sign, master warning lighta and check engine light.
Then after another start of the car -- It also showed me " Hybrid Brake System Warning Light. " and traction yellow sign.
I could not feel any difference in traction or braking --
After another start -- only lights remaining on the car are -- master warning, check hybrid system message and check engine --
Autozone OBD II meter showed me P0A80. I have been regular on my oil changes, tire pressure etc. so farily well maintained.
The plastic cover that protects the below surface of the car was broken few months back on front both sides.

This COULD be the issue. Sometimes a weak 12v aux battery can cause issues especially with all the computers/sensors in the ES300h

12v batteries are hard to find. Major retailers don’t sell those. Dealers cost around 350.

Proactively replacing the 12v battery at 143k/12years may not be a bad idea but chances of it fixing P0A80 are nearly nil. The individual cell voltages of the hybrid battery need to be checked (Dr. Prius app or Techstream) at this point.

And I am sure replacing just a single bad cell is even cheaper.

Sure, but its normally a waste of time as other cells will go bad.

Anyone tried " Prolong Reconditioning package"? ( or something similar that is available, I only know about prolong through dr prius ) It costs less than getting a reconditioned battery pack and it may solve the issue even in short term?

Reconditioned battery pack -- 12 month warranty -- costs 1K to 1.5K ( probably will last less than 2 years )
"new" aftermarket battery pack -- 36 month warranty -- costs 2K to 3K. ( probably will last less than 4 years )

Dealers should have this battery. Also...Toyota sells them too (Avalon and the es300h uses the same battery)

I got mines for 300 out the door from Lexus.

You can just use a regular AGM battery, theres some threads on clublexus about it if your search around. That will cost you around 150-200 for that battery from walmart

aftermarket battery pack is not built to the same standards. can even be a fire hazard. Toyota have invested tens of millions R&D if not more into their battery tech for each generation of hybrid.

just get OEM, install it and call it a day ( will last another 15 years).
