Remote start recommendations
Hello to the forum. I am now the proud owner of a 2011 RX450H. Given all the features, I was surprised it does not have a remote start. I note there are a number of aftermarket options. Wondering what the wisdom of the forum might suggest?
The remote start from Lexus has been technologically superseded [Cell phone technology has moved on].
Coming back to 450H ... remote start is counter intuitive for hybrids. When you are ready to go, the vehicle is ready with you, but the "start" never happens ... or only happens when the computer makes the choice. The vehicle runs on battery. I am sure some would disagree with me, that one can turn on the vehicle and have the A/C-heat running, but my argument is that it negates the "hybrid" motivation.
Regarding after-market solutions ... my personal opinion about them is that they are more trouble than their worth. Now the 3rd gen is fairly old, but if you were to bring the vehicle for repairs to dealership, they might insist on removing the after-market solution.
Time has moved on and I am sure the quality might have improved. If you do opt for one, please insist that the installer would not cut corners and splice into harness ***** nilly.

Thank you. Your reply makes sense. I am new to the hybrid world and need to revise some of my assumptions. That said, remote start in my part of the world is really nice when it’s below -30 (F or C) and you’d really like to get into a warm car!
Viper is among the good devices to add to your RX for the RS. Consider the "2-way" feature that communicates back to the fob that the
car actually heard the command and really started. While agreeing with the Moderators philosophy that Remote Start and Hybrids are
counter intuitive, I RS my 2020 ES 300h with the Lexus App feature when double dinner dating on cold Chicago evenings. Does nick
the MPG results a bit but in winter they are lower anyway and our back seats are not heated!
