EV Mode Indicator on the MID : Appearance is controlled by the "EV" button only ?
So for comparison, on my '15 ES300h, WHENEVER the ICE is off, regardless of speed, that indicator comes on and vice versa.
The 450h does not behave this way right ?
Looks like it behaves like the manual P.217 says, Indicator is controlled by the "EV" button.

The only indicator I know id ECO light on - off. With ON it means your gas pedal is the fuel conserving mode and when off, you can improve fuel economy by letting off the gas pedal bit.

Salim is right. The eco indicator will come on on its own if you are driving within the vehicles parameters. However, the EV indicator will only display after you hit the EV button and the vehicle determines conditions are appropriate for it. It does not come on every time the vehicle is using battery power alone.
