button under gas pedal to make u pick up faster
someone i know has a 95 LS400 and underneath his gas pedal he has a little button that if u press the pedal down and click that button then it'll shift a little faster, I checked my 02 GS430 and it doesn't have it, that im aware of, now could i be missing it, or did they just stop putting it on lexus or did they just switch the button with the ETC power button? any clues?

I don't know of any button by the accelerator. I have been working for Toyota for 12 yrs now. I know for a fact that the ect stands for Electronically Controlled Transmission. It just stays in gear longer than normal upshifts.

i haven't checked my car yet. but i know in my friends infinity j30 it has it. here is how to check. with the ignition off press the gas pedal in slowly if you hear a click or anything when you get all the way to the bottom that means you have a button. sometimes you can't see it.
hey 888. you know how you said the ECT makes it stay in gear longer?? so whats the difference between that and Overdrive. when i take my overdrive off it stays in gear longer also???
usually i drive with eigther both on or both off. cuz i don't really know the difference

Well I don't see why they wouldn't put it on the GS, i mean if they put that on the LS then they should have put it on all of there cars, Just a thought..

i had a friend who put a NOS system in his Toyota Supra. he located the "squeeze" button below the gas pedal so that when he slammed on the gas it would activate the NOS. i dont think anyone has ever put NOS into a Lexus LS though...

Hey GlobeCLK,Ill show u the button next time we meet, its pretty cool.I harldy ever use it though,it just shoots my rpms to redline really fast somtimes.
But I think all the pre VVTI engines are the only ones that have this so called "pick up button".

stop
Its actually just a spring loaded bumper stop. No electrical connections or signals are sent.It is for those that prefer to drive and accelerate a bit without an abrupt downshift. If you press this button down then the trans will downshift if available for extra ooomph. It does not activate the trans, it just allows the pedal to go further. You can add one to you GS if you prefer, but the GS was meant downshift and go fast to begin with. Some people just take that thing out so they do not have to give the extra force to kick it down.

Yeah my 1975 mercedes 450se, has the kickdown button as well, you here the click and you lose the back end and all you see is rubber white smoking. I try not to use it, It is very dangerous in my car.
