5K Miles Complimentary scheduled maintenance service @ local dealer
I am planning to have my car checked in to cerritos dealer for Complimentary scheduled maintenance service around this week and I was wondering anyone have their car check in for this service and is there things i should know before I head out there? stuff like hidden fees and time it takes it to get the car checked in? free car wash?
Oh and they are providing me loaners car. is this service free?

loaner cars are free it just depends on the dealer. There should be no other cost unless you tell them to put synthetic oil in. Ummm dont do the free car wash they will give you micro swirls on your paint other than that enjoy the free Starbucks and cookies

Complimentary service means free. And yes, do not have your car washed at any dealership. Swirl City. Lastly, be sure to walk around your car with your service advisor to note there are no scratches, dings, chips, or blemmishes. I've gotten my car back one too many times with... well... not as I had left it.

What is it about the dealer's car wash that gives swirls? Are there other places to avoid getting it washed? Out here in SoCal we gota ton of places, but I didn't know what specifically gives swirls. Thanks.

Make an appointment for early in the morning, take it in and just wait for it. Will only take 30-45 minutes. NEVER have the dealer wash it. I have a large 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper with 'DO NOT WASH' on it and I lay that on top of the dash AND I make sure the service writer understands this. Wash it yourself and you'll know it is done right.

tell the service advisor 'no wash' ALSO print out in very big font 'NO WASH' and put it on a very visible place too, steering wheel or center counsole... IF you know spanish put it below the english... take no chances.

Avoid the $5.00 drive thru car wash. Wash it yourself....use microfiber mit/towels and two separate buckets. Keep up the clean appearance in between "water washes" with a good quick detailer (I use Dura Gloss 951 Aqua Spray Wax ).

Service departments are trained to get people in and out as fast as possible. That goes for the wash. They go too fast, not cleaning the car properly. They also use substandard rags and sponges that are too harsh or dirty. All of this leaves fine hairline scratches on the surface. Most car washes are the same way. Try your best to wash your own car or avoid driving... like I do. j/k Well, sorta.

i doubt they will get you a loaner car for the 5k service. That's usually reserved for services that take a couple hours at least. All they're gonna do is change your oil/filter, measure tire thickness, set your LPS if you request it (and haven't done it yet). And yes definitely forgo the "free carwash" especially if you have a dark color unless you want alotta swirls.
Other then that enjoy the "complimentary" drinks and snacks. You should in and out in bout an hour.

My dealer provided a free loaner--which I ended up having for 4 days (they messed up doing a TSIB, and needed to order a new interior door panel).

I got to figure something out though. The thought of them destroying my car is enough to make me pass out, lol.
