Navigation Map Update
Has anybody on the forum updated their HS 250 navigation yet? On my wife's RX I could do the DVD update myself so my only cost was for the DVD.
The HS250 is a hard drive based system and according to the dealer in Kansas City, only a dealer can update the navigation maps. My dealer is saying the total cost including labor will be around $500.00
Anybody have any experience with other Lexus dealers on this update

I got a junkmail postcard from Lexus stating the 10.1 update costs $200 plus labor. Their website (http://lexusnavigation.com) states the same, and lists what's been updated. $300 for the dealer to connect a scantool to your OBD port and press "go" is ridiculously expensive.
I did my updated when they had the sale of USB dongle for $99. I can tell you that I wasted $240 for nothing. Lexus charged $120 for labor. All I could see with the new map are fewer new roads. Old layout and locked down as usual by Lexus. Save your money and use your cellphone as navigation device.
Asking $500 is highway robbery.

What is the advantage with the update? For 500 I would investigate. If they would remove the lock out I would update but no other reason.
