Default lowering my hs250

Hey everyone i had a question to ask. Is there any way possible that i could lower my car. I mean not no dragging my fender or losing one of my fog light's in the process , but just a little. I know most of you guys know deal and what the con's are. But i have seen some hs out there that it is possible. I know I know before you guys say that it's a bad idea , but is it possible. Even if i have to buy coil overs so be it. I know this car could be more then what it is but i guess you guys will be the judge of that. Any feed back is much appreciated thank you all.

I don't actually know pros and cons, but I do know that lowering is common with these cars in Japan.

looking on buyee.com and searching for the chassis/model code ANF10 brings up tons of lowering kits (ie looks like complete replacement of the front suspension with lowered parts). Occasionally I also see random little parts described as adjusting something about the car for suitability when it's lowered.

no idea whether these parts are plug-and-play or whether it takes specialised knowledge.

I am not shilling for the buyee website... it's just I've found yahoo auctions jp seems to be THE place for car parts in Japan.

Maybe somebody will find a JDM modding reference?

Hey thanks for the info as of matter a fact I looked into that website. And, they have nothing but gems. Every car amazes me. I try to get all the info so I know it's possible. I said before and I'll say it again Japan has a gift for modding cars. Much respect I also noticed you could buy parts from that website. I even seen that there were selling a front grill but don't know if I could still buy it. To bad they stop making this car in the U S. Cuz those newer hs are looking sick

They were never made in the US. All are Japan built. They were imported here for 3 model years but less than 20,000 total were sold. They continued to be built for several more years after we stopped getting them, ending around 2017.
However now parts are hard to find and insurance companies are quicker to total them in minor accidents due to age, depreciation and the lack of replacement body and other parts.
The HS is on a chassis unique to the HS although similar to other Toyota models, so there are not really any easily obtainable interchangeable parts from a Scion or other Toyota model.
However it has the Camry engine and hybrid drivetrain, so that is easily repaired.
Good Luck with your efforts to find quality lowering suspension bits and let us know what you end up doing to it.

Default lower my hs

thanks a lot for the links clutchless you see its like I learn something new evertime i hop on here. There's still a lot i need to think about ,but it should not be hard to do. Whatever it is ill keep you guys posted. Hey i had one more question about the TPMS. Since i got the car the second day that light came on. At first i was worried ,but i found out it has to do with the tire pressure. Well 3 days ago i bought brand new michelin tires all 4 of them with alinement and all. But the light still keep's truning on. With brand new tire you would thing it would fix the problem. Any ideas on how to turn it off thanks.

The TPMS sensors only last between 7 and 11 years. They have internal batteries that cannot be replaced.
You have one or more that are worn out with dying batteries. That means you have to replace the TPMS.

You should have had all of them replaced when you got the new tires. If you car is over 7 years old and you need new tires you should always replace the TPMS at that time.
You save on labor if replacing them when you get new tires as they have to remove the tires from the wheel usually to replace them.
However, sometimes then can just deflate and break the bead near the TPMS to get in and replace it.

Go back to the tire shop and ask for a quote to replace all 4 TPMS. Maybe they will give you a break since you just got tires and were ignorant of how TPMS worked at that time.
Also they can scan each wheel to identify the bad TPMS if you just want to replace one or two at this time.
You should have mentioned this to them when you got the new tires.
The price varies a lot from shop to shop.

Finally, check the air pressure of your new tires as they are often over inflated. The proper inflation pressure is on the plate on the drivers door frame. I like to run 35 pounds on my 18 inch wheels.
There is a TPMS reset button on the underside of the dash. Sometimes that needs to be reset to get the light to turn off in case it goes on with too high a tire pressure.
But I doubt that is your problem. Too high a tire pressure will not make them turn on. There are probably youtube videos on the HS tpms reset, or a thread somewhere here about it.

I had mine replaced at Costco a few years ago and they were much cheaper than a couple of other quotes I got. Cheap enough to justify joining Costco!
You can call their tire shop for a quote if you have a Costco near you. I suspect Sam's Club and BJ's Wholesale Club have similar prices.

Got it you see that's why i cant trust no tire shop. For all i know (which is not much) i was going in to buy just one tire ended up buying 4 new ones. Which i regret well at least i got the tire's recomended for that car. They never mention about the TPMS till after they was done. Telling me o ya your TPMS senor is on but you should be able to reset that. Real smooth BIG O Tires real smooth o well its my flaut anyway. You live and you learn the next thing i need to do asap is change the tranmission fuild. Which iam going to see if i could to it my self. I need to start getting down and drity myself because paying all that money and for all i know they might be lying. Well thanks for the help clutchless i am going to do my homework know so i could learn more about my car. PEACE

Jessekilz - You need to use the search feature on this forum. Almost everything you have said you want to do or asked about has already been discussed as these are old cars.

For instance, now that you state you want to change the transmission fluid. It is easier to do on this car than changing the engine oil.
This is not a normal transmission, it is not a CVT. It is what Toyota calls a Power Transfer Unit. It holds 4 quarts. It has a fill hole and a drain hole.
You drain the fluid and fill it up until it spills out the fill hole and you are done. It takes Toyota WS ATF. I have also used Idemitsu TLS LV ATF which you can get at Amazon. I think it is better fluid. It is a full synthetic direct replacement for Toyota WS. Always loosen the fill hole first. You do not want to drain it and find you cannot get the fill bolt loose!

See these older threads for instructions.

I thought that I read somewhere that the hs has the same struts as the scion tc. I have not verified it but you could probably do a parts search on a part dealer site like toyotapartsdeal.com or some other site to verify.

The possible use of Scion struts has been discussed and I think someone actually installed them. See these threads.

Hi there! I believe BC Racing still makes coilovers for this chassis

It is possibly a typo as they list it for the HS200h which I don't think exists and is probably the HS250h. Probably need to contact them to confirm fit.

they also have springs but I cannot tell how much lowering they provide.
