Default Rear backup question

For those owners who own a 2015 GX 460 in Starfire Pearl do you get a bright glare on the bottom of the screen when backing up when it is totally dark (no outside street lighting). It appears the license plate lights reflecting off the inset throw a bright glare on this camera lens as it is a wide angle lens.
If so, do you know of a remedy? Have to go back to dealer in about a week and will ask then, but for the present it is a problem as I have to back into my garages because of the angle to the drive way. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Have you tried turning down the brightness for your backup camera. Even though I have a black GX, it was super bright/glaring until I turned down the brightness. Now it is quite useful.

Yep, I have the exact same problem. I did not have the issue with my 2012. Lexus changed something, I suspect the camera is different as I have noticed the resolution is horrible compared to my 2012. They cheapened it up, the picture is always grainy and very poor compared to my 2012, no matter if it is sunny, cloudy, or dark...sad they did that. I have also noticed the LCD screen is not as good as my 2012, the glare is horrible and the screen is much darker making it almost impossible to see at certain times (and yes, I have played with the brightness but to no avail). I guess this is one way they save money...

It must be something with the 2015 model as opposed to the earlier models.... There is a discussion on the RX boards talking about the different LCD screen that seems to be in the 2015 models causing issues with polarized glasses, which I also had the same issue. I had to replace my perfectly good Maui Jims with Oakleys because I could not see the screen...again, not an issue with my previous GX's. They made a lot of small, unadvertised changes to the 2015 model that most people would not notice but if you came from a 2010-14 and are observant you will notice them. LCD screen, rear camera, ML sound, transmission shifting points, heat/ac system set points, more wind noise just to name a few. Not all bad (ML sound, transmission are good changes), but unfortunately most are.

...really like others have suggested the brightness and contrast need to be linked up to the dash light sensor to control the LCD.

Default Backup rear question

I was the one who started this thread. My attempts at adjusting the brightness etc resulted in very little difference. Stopped by dealer on Thursday and talked to salesman about this. He had a tech take it down to their basement car storage area where they could turn off the lights to create darkness to recreate the event. It was the camera itself that needed an adjustment. Now in the darkness of night it works just like it does in the daytime. Perfect at this time!

Tthat is what I suggested above. For others with this issue, you can do this adjustment yourself via the user setup menus.

Default Backup camera issue

dmcoombs. I understand what you are saying, and I adjusted those with little to no success. In my case it had to do with the camera itself. My brightness is set on the highest setting at present and backing up last night there was no glare at all. I do not know for sure what the tech did to correct it other than to say he had to adjust the camera itself.

Default Backup Camera

I have a Starfire Pearl 2015 also. The light appears to be bouncing off of the white bumper. I adjusted the brightness with only mild success. Then I changed my screen to daytime mode only. The glare has been reduced a little more since you do not have the dark mode screen at night. Still not the best, but there was some improvement. The Tech at Lexus had me come with him to check it out and they could not do any better.

2016 Starfire Pearl here.

Has anyone else had any success with this? My backup camera is almost useless unless its the middle of the day, I've tried to adjust the contrast/brightness with no real results. Both pictures have the contrast turned down, the first one is in a well-lit parking garage, the second is full grocery store parking lot at night.
